(August 14, 2010) – St. John’s legend Chris Mullin, the most-decorated player in program history, was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday night, with his 1992 USA Basketball “Dream Team” Olympic gold medalist teammates as part of its 2010 class. The most recent group enshrined in the Springfield, Mass., venue also includes the 1960 USA Olympic gold medal team, Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls, Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss, high school coaching great Bob Hurley Sr., and WNBA star Cynthia Cooper. Paris In Paris: Rising Senior Horne Touring Europe With East Coast All-Stars

QUEENS, N.Y. (Aug. 12, 2010) – St. John’s rising senior guard Paris Horne arrived in Paris, France, Wednesday as part of the 10-man roster for the East Coast All-Stars. The squad features 10 players who are currently touring Switzerland and France from Aug. 6-15, with five international exhibition games scheduled. The trip featured two games against the Swiss National Team in Geneva Sunday and Monday before the team arrived in Paris to take on the Tunisian National Team on Wednesday. BIG EAST Announces St. John’s League Basketball Matchups For 2010-11 Season

QUEENS, N.Y. (June 24, 2010) – St. John's and the BIG EAST Conference announced the 2010-11 league matchups for the Red Storm men's basketball team on Thursday. St. John's will take part in home-and-home series with Georgetown, Notre Dame and Cincinnati during the upcoming season, and will meet the remaining BIG EAST league opponents once either at home or on the road. In 2010-11, the BIG EAST will once again play an 18-game conference schedule, in which teams face 12 opponents once and three teams twice. QUEENS, N.Y. (June 21, 2010) – Head coach Steve Lavin and the St. John’s men’s basketball staff will host a two-day Shooting Clinic for boys, grades 1-12, on June 29-30 at Taffner Field House. "In addition to our traditional week long summer basketball camps held in August, we will also be holding a clinic that will focus specifically on the skill of shooting," said Lavin. The clinic is open to all boys, grades 1-12. Clinic participants will be grouped by grade (1-5, 6-8, 9-12) to maximize skill development. (June 5, 2010) – John Wooden, college basketball's gentlemanly Wizard of Westwood who built one of the greatest dynasties in all of sports at UCLA and became one of the most revered coaches ever, has died. He was 99 years old. UCLA reported that Wooden died Friday night of natural causes at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since May 26. St. John’s mentor Steve Lavin forged his coaching career over 15 years in head and assistant roles at both UCLA and Purdue University; the former is the program with which Wooden is most-closely associated, and the later is Wooden’s alma mater.
