Sounds like Ty Grant type player fwiw;

http://www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/yags-point-forward-coaches-speaking-french

The last two high-major bigs from Middletown, NY were Justin Burrell and Cleanthony Early.  This kid has been a monster since elementary school. We thought he'd be 6'10+ He started on varsity for Middeletown as a 8th grader on a very talented team that lost in the AA state championship game this year (without him on the team) to Aquinas--who lost a close game in  the tournament of champions to Shamorie's Thomas Jefferson squad. Middletown almost certainly wins it all if he was in the team.

It appears French is having a very productive summer;

Charley Neisner –  ‏@charleyneisner

Hasahn French (Commonwealth Academy) & Hamidou Diallo (Putnam Science Academy) are in the 2017's 'Cream of the Crop' at Pangos.

Eric Bossi ‏@ebosshoops

One guy I love to watch is 2017 forward Hassan French. Pound for pound he is as tough a guy as there is in the country. Rugged & athletic

Hasahn French is visiting SJU right now per Adam Zagoria.

I don't pretend to have inside information like Fordham96 - I give people credit for the information not like him.

Worth reminding...

He is from the same town as Justin Burell. Same position as well and works with a lot of the same people.

This kid looks awesome
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Hard to get a verbal (that can go public) while all the spots are technically taken.

Darien graduates after next season.

No doubt, they can figure out how to make room (as you noted if Darien is not allowed to stay for a grad year), but wouldn't French or anyone else have to wait to announce a committment or sign during the early signing period until the spot is officially open ?

No. Teams routinely go over 1-2 slots. Ships are renewable (or not) each year. SJU has a clear out with Darien, who can graduate and play anywhere he wants immediately.

Exactly, staff has no concerns about this issue at all.

Darien could move on to play at another program or Alibegovic could decide to play his senior year elsewhere. Malik Ellison is going to need to show marked improvement in order get minutes next season. If he doesn't, he might bolt, too.

I think it's more likely that mussini takes off than ellison

Maybe, but we do know that Mussini is staying on campus this summer to work on his game. Ellison? Crickets.

Mussini has less overall ability than Ellison, but he is an excellent free throw shooter, and we still haven't seen him play with a point guard. He simply isn't a player that can get his own shot, but we haven't seen him play where someone else could get him open looks.

One thing is clear: both of these players make shit point guards.

Neither player defense. Both are great examples of freshman who had no clue what kind of defense was expected of them at the D1 level.
