Nunez now holds offers from those two schools, as well as UConn, Louisville, Arizona, Rutgers and Arkansas.
Nunez and his mentor, Eric Martinez, visited St. John’s Tuesday and said they had a great time.
“I didn’t think St. John’s would look like that,†said Nunez, who is home for a few weeks before returning to the Winchendon (Mass.) School.
“I had never been there before. It was kind of nice. I like St. John’s.â€
Indiana also offered Nunez through assistant Roshown McLeod, the former St. Anthony standout.
“They said that they obviously have Kyrie [Irving] and [Michael] Gilchrist on the top of their list, but Angel is the next tier kid that they’re trying to recruit,†Martinez said.
One assistant coach spoke very highly of Nunez’s potential.
“He’s a pro,†the coach said. “He just needs to go to the right school that’s gonna develop his talent and bring out that fire that he has.â€
Nunez will attend either the Syracuse or Indiana elite camp at the end of the month, but Martinez said it would probably be Syracuse because of the proximity.
“We’ll probably go to Syracuse because it’s closer,†Martinez said.
