4 star shooting guard.  We seem to be heavily involved with him and yet there has been no mention until now.  The staff definitely has options that wemare not aware of.

former Gamecock commit:

Florida high school basketball scouting website SourceHoops calls Morris an,”athletic wing that can really shoot the basketball. He’s improved his game off the bounce and thrives in transition running the lanes.” Of Baker, the SourceHoops wrote,”He has very good handles and uses his court vision to find the open man. The Washington D.C. native also has the toughness to excel at the point guard spot in the SEC.”

Darrin Horn hasn’t lost his job – but the constant questions about his future with South Carolina have already cost him two recruits.

Ian Baker and Carlos Morris have both decommitted from the Gamecocks, a source told CBSSports.com.

The source pointed to job security as the primary reason for the change of heart.

“We don’t want to lose out on other schools it they lose their job,” the source said. “They are still one of the schools on the list.”

If Horn stays, the Gamecocks will remain in the mix.

According to the source, Arkansas, Cincinnati, West Virginia, San Diego State and South Florida have already reached out about Baker and Morris.

It is strange that a player from Florida is not recruited by Florida (or Florida State).

Exactly what I mentioned to another poster.  There are borderline top 100 kids unsigned plus kids that perhaps are committed now but will open later.  Lots of options still left.

Morris from Scout.com:

When it comes to his recruitment, two schools are beginning to emerge for one time South Carolina commitment.

“Xavier and St. John’s are recruiting him pretty hard right now,” Morgan explained. “There are a lot of people out there showing interest, but Xavier and St. John’s are showing the most interest.”

This is the only video I found on him. its from 2010 but definitely has a nice looking shot. Seems like the "do everything well" kind of player.

Good to hear.  Things look bleak right now but I still have faith in Lavin to put together a strong class.

6'6 is pretty nice size for a shooting guard...  especially when you add in that the the scouting reports say he's an above average ball handler and shooter as well.

Won't help us where we need it most... but go get 'em coach.

If South Carolina's scraps are half as good as the UConn scraps we got this year then he should be one helluva player.

Pretty coincidental but Rivals had an article yesterday about top 10 movers in their top 150 for the Class of 2012 and have Morris at no. 7:

7. Carlos Morris
School: Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day
The Buzz: One of the better unsigned wings in the country, Morris is a potentially explosive offensive player. He can shoot from deep, has strength to finish at the rim and has a short memory that allows him to keep shooting.

Paris Horned looked like Jordan in his highlight reel.

I was half joking, but at this point, he's a must get.

I would be thrilled if he's as good as Paris Horne. You need players like Paris to win.

Yes and he shot 100 %. He is a must get. Seriously, I like the idea of a kid with better then average size for his position.
