Dwayne Polee Collapsed During Game
« on: December 22, 2014, 11:55:51 PM »
ESPN just said Dwayne collapse on the floor of a game.  Paramedics attended to him.  ESPN says he was responsive and seems to be ok, but he just collapsed on the floor.  He was taken off on a stretcher.

Hopefully it's nothing and he has a full recovery.

ESPN  Sportscenter just opened with a scary shot of Polee collapsing on the court. Looked like the way Hank Gathers stumbled around before dying. Said he is responsive, hope everything is o.k. Likeable kid.

That's awful. Hope he's ok. I hope it's nothing, but certainly doesn't sound like nothing. People just don't collapse for no reason.

Was the 1st true big recruit under Lavin if I recall and represented a lot of hope given where the program once came from and seems like a really good kid. Hopefully all is well with him, he's a big part of what the Aztecs do. Just scary stuff. He still gives STJ props, saw a tweet of his a while back in regards to that I think.

Apparently same thing happened last year during a practice. Hopefully they figure out what's wrong before they let him play again.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/12401205/dwayne-polee-ii-san-diego-state-aztecs-sidelined-abnormal-readings-detected-heart-monitor

San Diego State forward Dwayne Polee II did not suit up for his team's 56-46 loss to Boise State on Saturday night after doctors detected abnormal readings in a heart monitor that was surgically implanted into his chest after he collapsed in a game Dec. 22, according to team spokesman Mike May.

"Dwayne has a monitor underneath his chest that [provides] readings 24/7," May told ESPN's Jeff Goodman. "When reviewing, there were some abnormalities that resulted in the doctors wanting to change his medication levels. Apparently, that is not uncommon in these cases. Anyway, he has not had time to be cleared to play in games."

Polee was taken to a local hospital after collapsing in a matchup against UC-Riverside three days before Christmas. He was eventually diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.

Polee returned to the court in San Diego State's victory over San Jose State on Feb. 21. He registered three points in 13 minutes of action in the 74-56 victory.

Polee's father, Dwayne Polee Sr., said his son is expected to play for the Aztecs later this week when they face UNLV.

"[He] should play on Wednesday," Dwayne Polee Sr. told ESPN.com via text message.
