Well, got to say, wasn't sold on this earlier, too many unknowns, but hard to not be excited about seeing Mullin reunited with SJU.  Most of us grew up on those magical teams.  Will support him 100% and excited to see what he does with the program!!!

Wow...personally think it's a risky hire.

Having said that he's my favorite all-time player and I'm as giddy as a school girl.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

@TimBontemps: However, @HowieKussoy writes Barry Rohrrsen could join Mullin's staff. Would be a heck of a place for him to start: http://t.co/t9SlPJzTCm

Possible candidates as assistants include Kentucky assistant Barry “Slice” Rorhssen, a Brooklyn native, former Manhattan coach and close friend of Mullin, Iowa State assistant coach Matt Abdelmassih, a St. John’s alum who has had a major hand in the Cyclones’ recent success and knows Mullin well, and Arizona assistant Emanuel “Book” Richardson from The Bronx.

IMO, Couldn't go wrong with any of those assistants.

PJ would be interesting as X and O guy. Coached him in Barcelona and GS.

Realfan agrees and MJM believes it if realfan says it is so.  ;) :)

Cmon now. Don't be silly. NY hoops is back with a vengeance. Sick of watching all these redneck schools playing deep into March. Our turn now

I need to know the rest of the staff....that's key.  Mullin knows basketball but it's his first go around in coaching.  Hope they got Slice and a great crew to go with him and let's go.

Interesting move--followed Chris in HS as both Clippers and was at virtually all his Redmen games at home and a number on the road,  He was sweetness to watch.  Having him return could have something to do with family--his kids are grown and his family is back here.  When he played the family was always there including a couple of nuns-very close group.  He has recently shown up more frequently back here, He was honored by XHS about 18 months ago and he has joined the Board.  He was involved back here when he started in the league.  Did a clinic in Breezy Point for a number of years (you could see he enjoyed the teaching).  One of the great things about Chris is when he finally addressed the drinking problem--he could really pound down the beers and would get out of shape during summers when in the NBA.  After 3 years he turned it a around.  I think beside his BB skills, he brings life skills that can make his players complete individuals.  More than a player he is a role model.

Adam Zagoria
‏@AdamZagoria   Early indications are that Chris Mullin is targeting some very strong recruiters w/ NYC ties...Will be developing in next few days.
