We totally used Canada’s free healthcare to the max as both Justin Burrell (finger fracture) and Quincy Roberts (mild-concussion) both sought medical attention. We went 4-0 with three blow out victories. We got some free air-time on SSN, a network who hires just about anyone off the streets to commentate. Everyone played a good chunk of minutes which is the way it should be in preseason games. I think everyone came away somewhat impressed with the potential of the new guys we brought in. It looks like they can all contribute valuable minutes which couldn’t be said for the incoming guys last year (Phil Wait, Tyshwan Edmondson). Check out the box scores on our schedule page to get a better idea of what went on over the weekend. Also be sure to check out St. John’s Twitter Page which was an excellent source of information as the games unfolded.
Canadians Are Hockey Players for a Reason
Like Scott Van Pelt would say on Sportcenter, “He’s tough, he’s a hockey player.” Well these Canadians banged up our boys Justin Burrell (hand fracture) and Quincy Roberts (mild concussion) pretty good. On the bright side is we put up over 90 pts in each of the contests. Here are the Boxscores:
It’s hard to tell from either of these games what we can expect from this St. John’s team but one thing is for sure we have the ability to interchange players at any time to keep fresh running legs on the floor. We’ll see about the match-ups tomorrow and revaluate.

Big Men on Campus
Norm Roberts is taking full advantage of being able to start practice earlier than most teams in the country because they are taking a trip to Canada to play four games Labor Day weekend as a preseason tournament. Why not give recruits a first hand look at how a college practice is ran and do so before the rest of the competition. First impressions are lasting. Jeff Borzello of NBE Basketball was there to catch the action. You can read his report here.
St. John's to Microblog from Canada
St. John’s will have live updates all weekend via their twitter and facebook pages. This will include some play by play, pictures, and videos. Way to go St. John’s! I’m happy they are diving into their internet resources. It would have been nice to see SJU Radio make the trip too but this doesn’t look like the case. For more news visit Red Storm Sports
