Prepare
[pri-pair] – Verb
To put in proper condition or readiness.
You’ve probably heard it 1,000 times. Practice makes perfect. Whether it’s a game, a test, interview, or driving your car preparation leads to better results.
A week ago I was given a new naughty VolvoS60 to drive around snowy and salty Manhattan in route to the St. John’s vs Duke game. I knew how important it would be to be prepared for anything the weather had to throw at me.
I immediately took the car to PJ’s Car Wash to rid the exterior of salt, clean the windows and wiper blades, and top off the washer fluid. They also dusted and wiped down the interior too. Love those guys.
I was ready for my trip being able to see clearly out of my mirrors and windows to in sure safety. Having a clean interior is also important for a better driving experience. It’s a big reason why my 1993 Volvo 240 that has 200k miles still looks brand new (It’s still buried under snow pictures coming soon).
In the game of basketball you train, you practice, and you study film to perform at higher levels.
When caring for your car you check the oil, fluids, air pressure to drive at peak performance.
A part of training is recovery. Getting proper rest and ice after practice or weight room session. You do this to take care of your body and to avoid injury.
When driving you change the oil to make sure your engine is running clean. This might be one of the most overlooked aspects of maintaining a car and one of the easiest things to do.
Injuries are an unfortunate part of the game. Nobody likes being injured, sitting out, or spending money on medical bills.
Fortunately for Volvo drivers all S60’s come with a 5 year warranty plan. So for the first 5 years if anything were to happen to your Volvo they’ll fix it free of charge.
You can certainly have some fun with taking care of your car too.
Getting better at your game is a lot of hard work however its still the game you love and should have fun playing. The same applies to your which should include a window sticker from your Alma Mater and perhaps even a license plate frame or personalized license plate if available in your state (check with your local DMV).
As a player prepares for his/her game day and they put in the hard work into their games then they will be a winner. If you drive a new naughty VolvoS60 you’re an instant national champion.
