Today
For Yakwe. Hope you are right on Ponds as well.

Both on board
Know that but did not think Ponds was popping today.

Why won't Ponds commit?  I won't be happy until I actually see it.

The amount of love that fans showed for Ponds at Elite 24 was insane. Every time he touched the ball fans went crazy.

Dave you have any idea if him and Rawle are tight?

Not tight but they get along. Rawle isn't staying home.

But because he's a NY kid and had a couple quotes after Mullin was hired about how honored he was everyone is clamoring for him.

That's understandable. It sucks "losing" local talent to OOS programs.

As a die hard Hurricane football fan, I've grown accustomed to SEC schools and other elite programs pillaging South Florida for blue chip talent.

Verrrrrrrrrry difficult for private schools with smaller alumni bases to compete against publicly funded fotball factories.

Doesn't mean we should try, though.

Depends.  If you waste a lot of resources chasing him and don't get him you could have devoted those resources elsewhere.  Also if you don't show him love or a lot of you will drop from list sooner rather than later when you are mentioned all along but still don't get.  Different strokes for different folks.

When Rawle made his top 10 one blogger joked that a recruit making a top 10 list is the equivalent to saying.. ”Now there are only 5-6 teams that will waste time recruiting me even though they have no chance at landing me as opposed to earlier where there were probably 15-20.”

Why continue to recruit him if his mind is already made up that he's leaving NYC, just to have him continue to list us? Well that's a joke.
I can see that if he isn't sure, but if his mind is already made up then lets be done with him. There will be be others that will want to don the Red & White.
Yeah it sucks to lose top local talent, but hey shit happens so just move on. Yakwe has committed. Will Ponds and Ahmed be the next two?

With Rawle or not with him, SJU are making moves.

No doubt, recruiting a kid like Alkins can be interpreted as a waste of resources if he commits elsewhere. Then again, that'd be the case for every team he doesn't select.

Double edged sword: Damned if you do, and be more damned if you don't.

Mullin said he was going to make NYC a priority. Recruiting Alkins supports his comment. If anything, local coaches will heeed the attention being placed on Alkins and other NYC kids. I can't imagine that having a negative impact on us down the line.

I hear you, though.
