June 6 Unofficial Recruiting Visits
« on: May 31, 2015, 09:18:08 AM »
Hearing we could possibly have ten kids or so on campus next week. Sid Wilson, Andre Rafus & I believe Nate Pierre Louis have already indicated they will be there. Exciting times! Kudos to staff for working on 16 & 17 classes so aggressively while they conclude 15 efforts.

Big weekend for us.  Great to get the kids out and to get to know the staff.

Wow, sweet summer time.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Beautiful. Get more in person interaction on campus to set up for AAU summer ball.  Looks like relationship building is one strong pillar of (what I believe will be apparent years from now) many this staff will build for its foundation.

It would be great if some of the as yet to be named assistants show up...as well as some of our former illustrious players.

We won't be disappointed with this weekend.  List of kids should be made known very soon.

I heard the Jersey kids were coming a few days ago.  Looking like a monster weekend.  Also hearing a lot of local coaches will be on campus.

In addition to the fact that the kids are gonna be on campus, it is a great effort to get lots of local coaches on board.  This good faith outreach to local players and coaches is a fantastic tool to get people on board with SJU.  Low pressure situation for potential recruits as well.  Great job by the staff putting this together.

@NYPost_Brazille: Will be posting full list shortly, but #sjubb will have 15 visitors on Saturday. Mohammed Bamba, Trevon Duvall, Naz Reid, Shamorie Ponds ...

@NYPost_Brazille: Other visits of note include Jose Alvarado, Quade Green, Sidney Wilson, Nate Pierre-Louis. It's a very impressive list expected at #sjubb.

I would be interested to know what occurs during such visits where you have so many kids and coaches involved. If anyone has any insight, please share.

You see large group of recruits visiting at once typically in football recruiting.  The event centers around a football game or a basketball game that they all attend usually, along with a group meeting with a academic adminstrator and then one on one metings with a academic assistant who describes the courseload.Kids then typically stay overnight with a current player in the dorm.

You usually don't see this many kids at once in basketball recruiting, and for SJU, there's not really many players on the current roster to host these kids (except for the new guys who just got to campus for summer session, it apepars, and I guess Chris O, Felix, Amar and Jones).  Also, no sporting events are on campus this weekend.  Should be interesting to hear how Mullins handles this

They will be in officials so they won't be staying over and presumably won't need hosts. I'm interested as wel in what will take place.

Usually a tour around campus. Have a few speakers to talk with them. Watch some individual drills, etc. Have the best looking girls you can find walk past the group.

RENS coach today;

@NYPost_Brazille: Andy Borman said #sjubb has formed relationships with everyone involved with Akins and Heron -- the kids, their families, AAU and HS coaches

@AdamZagoria: Sounds like Chris Mullin and St. John's put on quite the impressive show today for 15 recruits and their coaches. Story later.

Gotta think a lot of coaches aren't too happy Mullin is here
