Title: I was wrong about Adonis
Post by: JohnnyJungle on October 29, 2014, 08:43:08 PM
He's gonna be seeing more minutes.

I hope he plays with as much energy as he showed waiving flags at midnight madness. If so he'll be fun to root for

Gonna need to now with the thinning front line. Thomas along with Jones knee injury will mean more minutes for sure. Forget people talking redshirt.

He will play as much as his conditioning and foul trouble allow.

If he had worked all summer to get into superb shape, like Smith at Georgetown apparently did this summer, I could see him providing some quality time. He apparently chose not too, prompting his current coach to recently reference that need. Kind of late to be "rounding" into form.

Round is a shape.

Has anyone actually seen him play an extended period?  Im not concerned if he is a bit heavy.  His size will clog the middle and enable him to move people around without the obvious foul, unlike Obekpa who needs to be on a Pizza and beer diet.  Remember Barkley, the round mound of rebound, and of course Shaq.  You can be in good shape at his size.  Love his hands and court sense.  Any comments relative to his conditioning from recent workout observations?

Coach said he was the most impressive freshman even though he didn't have a good practice. Said he's smart.

He's the only scholarship freshman, no?

How would Lavin know someone was smart?

He needs to start taking cardio and diet seriously.
Amazing that our season could come down to this guy's diet.

Travion Leonard ate Obekpa's lunch last year. Of course he ate everyone's lunch, so there's that.

If Lavin does not doing anything crazy (BIG IF) and just lets Jordan and Harrison go off, we should sneak into the tourney.

I think we are slightly worse than last season, and are probably 18-12 or 17-13 going into the Big East Tournament.
Ultimately we miss the tournament, again.

We will end up missing Sampson and Sanchez a lot more than people want to acknowledge right now.  They weren't perfect but they could score far better than our current front court options, and scoring efficiently will be our achilles heel.

missing the players maybe, not the basketball smarts. Outside of Sampsons monster defensive game vs creighton I for the life of me can't remember his making a huge mark on last season. Freshman year he did more, just my opinion.

Baldi played like the indian in One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest.  We've had enough of them.

I asked Braziller on twitter and he said he was recovered from his injury.

I am happy to hear Dave's update on Adonis, because the game tape of him from last season reminded me of Curtis Johnson, less 4 inches and the limp.  Jones really needs to shine here (and by "shine" I mean give a consistent 25 or so minutes per game, with strong rebounding and defense).  A lot is depending on him.

10 minutes more likely.

What update?
He simply said now he's going to have to play a lot because Thomas is out of the picture.
That doesn't mean Adonis is any more ready to play than he was last week.
