Title: Eric Paschall - SF - Dobbs Ferry HS - Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
Post by: newsman13 on February 13, 2013, 12:38:00 PM
Any reason there's no buzz on this guy?  Only fourth junior to be named Mr. Basketball in Westchester Division 1.  Others are Elton Brand, Ben Gordon and Jabarie Hinds.
6-6 swingman leads section in scoring at 25.3 points per game with eleven rebounds, two and a half assists and nearly two blocks per game.
I saw (on TV) Huggins at his game the other day.
How come he's interested and we're not?

I saw him for the first time on TV last week.  Kid is a great athlete who dunks everything.  He might be very similar to what we have at the present though .

Because the competition in Westchester is horrible.  Do they play national schedule like Mt Vernon?  Two of the guys mentioned played for Mt Vernon with national schedule and Brand also I'm pretty sure did at Peekskill.  If not then he's not going to get the attention.  If anything it speaks volumes of the drop in talent in the NY area.

Brand beat a very talented cold spring harbor team in the state semis. That helped their sos.

Brand was on that legendary AAU team with Metta Peace, AG, Barkley, Jessie, Lamar Odom, Etan Thomas from Cuse. I think they went like 100-1 one summer.

Yup.  I was at the game.  Wally+4 kids who were afraid to shoot the ball.  I didn't know anything about recruiting back then or how good Brand was.

If we whiff on major targets, I have no problem with a local guy. Put him behind Pointer, Amir to PF, make sure Harrison stays, and make everyone shoot 500 free throws and three pointers a day over the summer.

Otis Hill went to Pleasantville. Danye Abrams went to Hackley. Two of the best college players ever to come out Westchester. Poor comp didn't hurt them one bit.

Your funny.  Yes we do have that.
I was referring to prep schools, and kids picking up and moving to better school at drop of dime.

*Someone I know coached vs. him yesterday.  He dropped 31 yesterday and the buzz in the gym was he would probably be at a different HS next year and the higher offers over the summer.  Ridiculous range and is a terriffic shooter were what was said.

Moose where you sitting tonight??  I'll be there as well probably about 9 rows or so above the Iona bench.

To be back on topic I've also seen Paschall play.  good player who beats up on weak comp.  Good athlete who can shoot it a bit but I really don't think we need him.

NEW YORK, NY - New Jersey may be "stronger than the storm" but on Saturday, the NJ Shoreshots were not stronger than The City.

M. Wingate

Eric Paschall scored a game high 38 points
Sparked by Eric Paschall's 38 point typhoon, The City swept over a sharpshooting ShoreShots, 65-56 during Hoop Group's Buzzer Beater Classic at Basketball City.

It appeared to be a cakewalk early in the game as The City jumped out in front 13-2 behind buckets from left-handed wing Mustafa Jones and penetrating baskets from Paschall. However, defensive lapses by The City along with effective screens opened up perimeter opportunities for ShoreShot's 6'2" Charles Russo (CBA/2015), 6'1" Jordan Forehand (St. Benedicts Prep/2014) and 5'11" Jack Fay (Manasquan HS /2014). In the blink of an eye, it was a close contest.

What was once a comfortable lead eventually turn into a 30-27 deficit at the half for The City.

Paschall probably had the many College Coaches in attendance salivating as they could look but not touch the Fordham commit who dropped 16 first half points. Apparently that wasn't enough, as his team was trailing, so the rising senior put The City on his back and quickly regained the lead with 11 minutes left to play.

The ShoreShots tried to keep pace but to no avail. With an array of shots, whether it was bogarding his way to the hole or knocking down buckets from the perimeter, Paschall torched the NJ team singlehandedly with an almost 'how dare they compete' attitude.

4:17 remained in regulation and The City was once again comfortably ahead, 54-44. Paschall's 22 point second half kept it that way until the game concluded.

Jones and rising sophomore point guard Wolfgang Novogratz also added 12 points and 7 points respectively to The City's total. Russo led the NJ ShoreShots with 17 points while Forehand contributed 14 points. - See more at: http://nychoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1529379#sthash.i8mNdy3J.dpuf (http://nychoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1529379#sthash.i8mNdy3J.dpuf)

You have seen him more than me.  Two times I saw Paschall he did next to nothing.  Granted kids have bad days of course.  Martin has always played well when I've seen him and he oozes even more potential to me.
