offense has looked awesome coming off halftime...defense still not so much

Can’t find a boxscore. Who’s playing well?
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

ball moving well, everyone but Herron is on offensively, in general poor D though hustling is there, not IDing shooters. Single out the Fig as playing great

Ponds overdoing it a bit with the fancy passes and forcing the action....but he is the MAN of a THOUSAND MOVES.  Gotta wake up on D and value the ball

Wasn’t pretty on the defensive side, but I’ll take it.

Virginia comes back to beat VCU at home 57-49 on an 18-6 run to end it.  Friendly home whistle too.

VCU held them to 39 PTs through the first 34 minutes of the game.  Their defense is legit.  They've held Virginia to 57, Texas to 53, Temple to 51, and haven't let up more than 62 pts in a game except for us.  We hung 87 on them!  Tells you a lot about our offensive potential.

Good game.  Offense comes so easy to this team...almost to a fault.  I wish we didn't have to wait until the last 10-12 minutes to see outstanding defensive effort and getting after it on the offensive glass.  I don't know how much of that is playing basically 7 guys and how much of that is just them knowing they can pull it out. I suspect we'll have to learn this lesson the hard way.

I don't know why Mully went with the five guard starting lineup (had the volume down for the game) but I suspect that he issued a challenge in practice to start the best defenders and that's who came through during the week.

Your point still stands but this is misleading...St. John's scored 14 points in OT.  Those other games were all in regulation so we're talking about 73, which is still good vs. VCU.

It's the defense that needs tightening, and it's still an area of concern when the quality of teams goes up, but they are taking care of business for now.

I too feel beating good teams in league will be D,getting back, and forceing turnovers. Most of the teams in BE will be playing good D.

I actually forgot about the OT period.  I know they also played Hofstra in OT and that is why I left their total off the list.  Hofstra scored 67 total in game.

Still, we overcame a bad first half and scored 56 pts in the final 25 minutes which is more than Texas scored all game at home.

73 pts is still 11 more than any else scored on them thus far and we did that on an off night playing our second game in less than 48 hours.
