"Im visiting Arizona on Monday, Carson said, and thats all the visits I have lined up right now because Ill be on the road for a while at other tournaments. I still want to check out schools like UCLA, Alabama, Marquette, Boston College, St. Johns, USC, and Washington. Im just keeping all my options open now.

Im going to see if I get more offers after July and then start narrowing down the list in September or October.

The Jackrabbit point guard is arguably the best in-state prospect in the 2011 class and as a junior he shot 43% from three-point range. He averaged 23.3 points, 5.5 assists and 2.2, 2.0 steals a game for Mesa who finished 25-5 this past season and reached the states 5A-1 state tournament quarterfinals "

Jahii Carson (Phoenix/Mesa) continues to impress at the point guard position. He has a burst of speed in the open floor, excels in the transition game, finds the open man and delivers assists with ease. In the half court, he can execute a pick-and-roll or run the offense. He is beginning to separate himself among the point guards in the 2011 class, and he said his list of schools right now are Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, UCLA and St. John's.

Lavin saw him this morning.

Jahii Carson (The Magic)- He might be a sub-6-footer, but Carson has an explosive burst off the dribble and has a deadly shooting stroke on the move. Basically his prowess with the basketball and his determined attitude give him on of the biggest presence on the court. Against a furious comeback by the Dallas Mustangs, Carson saved the day by splitting two defenders and scoring a lay up over LeBryan Nash to win the game at the buzzer. Carson led all scorers in that game with 29 points.

North Carolina was in the gym watching Carson, and Pittsburgh is also a new school recruiting him. Neither school has offered, but offers are in from UCLA, USC, Butler, Marquette, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, St. John's and Arizona State according to Carson. He also noted that his list is getting bigger rather than smaller at this point.

Def good news.  U of A is still prob the leader like it is w/ Johnson.

The one problem for Lavin regarding his PG recruitmeint is as great of a recruiter he is, it's going to be tough for him to have top guys commit when there is only Quincy, Polee, and Stith on the roster and nothing else.

It's gonna either be a kid with a lot of trust in Lavin and the staff or he'll develop confidence when  a big time player like Sampson, Harkless or Garrett committ to get the ball  rolling.

Still have plenty of time regardless....

Point guard Jahii Carson had a terrific overall game running the show for the Midwest. Carson shot 9-11, including 3-4 from behind the arc for 22 points. Even more impressive were his nine assists to only one turnover and fierce on the ball defense.

Standout players

Jahii Carson
2011, PG, 5-11, 165 pounds | Team: USA Midwest
Carson, who has a tendency to play more for flash than substance, was terrific in his team's dismantling of Team Asia. His 22-point, nine-assist (with only one turnover) performance was solid on many levels. His penetration into the teeth of the defense and decision making were the catalysts to his team's easy victory. He has elite-level quickness and speed and his change of direction was impressive. Plus, when the opening wasn't available, he calmly sank his jump shot.

The word I got is that Carson isn't seriously interested in the Johnnies as his list is narrowed more than 4 and he sees this as a free trip to NYC. However who's to say we can't strike dumb luck and he loves his visit and signs. Who knows?

If being in NYC alone gets us a visit from a good player then thats great because once hes here our guys can work their magic and maybe make this kid want to become a johnny. Lavin knows how to talk to these kids and a visit might be enough to put us higher on the list.

If the scouting report is correct on this kid and he is more about flash than he will see the bright lights of NY and it will light up his eyes.  The key is in my opinion with alot of these kids is that, they are waiting to see how much buzz and how we do this year surrounding the team before they can take us seriously.  SjU has never, even in its glory been a national force in the recruiting world.  Our best players have always been home grown.  Once I think kids see that NY is back as a basketball powerhouse they will want to be a part of it.

USA Midwest 78, INSEP France 59

Behind the inspired point guard play of Jahii Carson,a balanced attack and aggressive team defense, the USA Midwest earned a birth into the championship game.

Carson consistently broke down the defense with his penetration and found teammates and knocked down jumpers in the gaps. On 50 percent shooting he scored 13 points to go along with six assists, five rebounds. Carson was also the point of attack for the Midwest's spirited man to man defense.

Jahii Carson said Arizona State, Arizona and Washington standout right now and are recruiting him the hardest. The tempo of play for Arizona and Washington appeal to him, and he will be watching Arizona State closely this year to see if they truly do transition to a faster style of play.

An official visit is set for Arizona the first weekend of September, a Washington visit the last weekend of September, followed by an Oregon State visit and then a visit to UCLA at a still to be determined date.

Despite the fall visits, don't expect a decision until the spring.

Outside of the Pac-10, St. John's, Alabama and Memphis are schools of interest.

Per Alex Kline....  Arizona star Jahii Carson's Facebook Status: "My 3 visits are set... Arizona, Washington, UNLV. Two more visits left who should I visit?"

[tweet]http://twitter.com/TheRecruitScoop/status/21675846049[/tweet]

Asking himself a rhetorical question.... I think we'll get a visit.
