i like him but its a little presumptuous to say he thinks hes gonna be "the guy" on the team, when he might possibly be one of an 8+ player incoming class which by its end, might be ranked top 3 in the country

St. John's  is again emerging as a destination for some of the country's most talented basketball players. The Red Storm Thursday landed 6-3 D'Angelo Harrison from John Foster  Dulles High outside of Houston, one of the 20 best shooting guards in this senior class, according to several scouting services.

Harrison picked the Johnnies over Baylor, Marquette and Oklahoma State in a much-anticipated announcement on ESPNU.

He is an accurate shooter from long range with a quick first step on the drive. According to a Big East assistant coach "he will be a double-figure scorer in our conference."

A scoring machine, Harrison plays with supreme swagger and showed the ability this summer with the Franchize All-Stars to score in every single way. Any program would have an elite level scorer in this Harrison should they be lucky enough to get him. Harrison played in front of all the big-time coaches each time he stepped on the court this summer and showed to be in constant attack mode as one of the elite scoring guards in the class.

he said "one of the top guys"...and confidence is a good thing.

Any SJU fan should be wise enough to not ever dub any player "the guy" or the "the savior" ever again.

Whoa, whoa....there is a HUGE difference between calling someone "the guy" and calling someone "the savior."  You can't be serious?

I think Harrison is "the guy," because his scoring ability is just absurd.  He can run both guard positions for us and he really ties in with the three forwards we signed before him.  Now, Pointer will provide some insane defense and that was much needed as well.  Without Harrison, I think we just have a very good, athletic team that will be great on the boards and might struggle with points from time to time.

With Harrison, we become a team that has a go-to scorer and plethora of other players that can score very well.  To use a baseball analogy, we got our ace pitcher, and the whole staff is better off.

Marillac, chill. I wasn't talking to anyone in particular here, just remembering how hype doesn't always turn unto reality.

We all saw what happened to Lopez.

The first time D’Angelo Harrison visited Madison Square Garden he didn’t get a good look at what the basketball mecca had in store for him.

The New York City arena was being prepared for a Justin Bieber concert.

On Wednesday morning at Dulles High School, Harrison made it official that he will get to see plenty of it without the distraction of the teen singer.

The senior point guard signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for St. John’s University, which plays most of its home games at Madison Square Garden - perhaps the most famous basketball court in the world.

Harrison made an oral commitment on live national television several weeks ago. Thursday marked the second day of the NCAA’s early signing period.

“This is a big thrill,” he said. “I’m ready to go up there. I actually want to start this year.”

---------------------

Recruiting analysts have suggested the Johnnies had all the pieces except for a point guard – a void Harrison is expected to fill.

Looks like he doesnt have much help on that team but its good to see him shooting well even though the defense was probably all over him. 21-23 from the line, wow thats awesome. This kid is going to stretch defenses and really be a very good scorer right away I think.

I love the fact that he gets to the free throw line...Nuri, too.  That is basketball...taking it to the rim.  Most kids these days just want to dunk or shoot from three, but we have two kids now that want to take it to the tin or pullup from 10-15.  Offensively it seems like Harrison has everything.  I can't believe he's not a top 25 recruit at this point with his rep as the best shooter in the class.

Our teams the last 6 years were allergic to the FT line.  Plain and simple
