I think because Pointer was considered a Michigan lean he kind of slipped under the radar but just looking at how athletic he is coupled with his tight handle, good shooting form, and that tough defense hes known for he could very well end up being the best of this group.

2011 SF, 6-foot-6, 195 pounds
St. John's' class is loaded and there will always be some guys who get more hype, but when it comes time to earn minutes someone is going to have to do a number on Pointer to keep him out of the game. At both ends, Pointer empties the tank. He rebounds above the rim, runs and finishes with elite athleticism. He's such a quick jumper that he's an extremely effective offensive rebounder. His rapid ascent began early last summer but this is his first season cast as a leading man at QEA. The team lost Quincy Miller (High Point, N.C./Westchester) to transfer but gained a larger role for Pointer, a role he's exceeded expectations in. For the record, his birth name is Sir Dominique Pointer, and he's earned his respect.

Playing right now and leading Oak Hill

Anyone watch?  How was he?

Anyone watch?  How was he?

He put together a pretty good floor game on both nights.  I thought he played better on Friday night than he did on Saturday.  He was hitting his jumper on Friday, but missing it on Saturday.

He had a play on Saturday when he went across the lane and shot a mini-hook with his left hand and it was bottom.  It was a pretty good looking move and shot.  He also had a play on Friday, where he split a triple team, but was fouled prior to shooting.  He hit a fadeaway from about 15 feet and (again) it was bottom.  Like I said, he was fouled prior to the shot.

He really hustles and plays with a great deal of energy.  He was blocking shots; getting steals; hitting the boards and made some nifty passes, as well.  He has a pretty steady handle and able to get to spots on the floor.

We're gonna be a bit young a season from now, but I think many of us are gonna really enjoy watching Pointer and the other kids.

The 6-foot-6 athletic small forward plays a tough brand of ball. His toughness translates on the defensive end and in form of rebounds. He is active, seems to be in on a lot of plays and will go in and out of his area to snag rebounds.

No prospect plays with more relentless energy and competes on every possession more than Pointer. He never counts on a teammate to make a play but is constantly pursuing the ball and throwing his body around the court. His impressive improvement over the past year speaks highly of his work ethic as well.

"never counts on a teammate to make a play?" It's great to pursue the ball but in college, there's more to defense than just chasing the ball.  I hope that means just that he's a balls-out defender (and is able to learn when to pass guys off) rather than a guy with tunnel vision.

I'm guessing Meyer's meant Pointer doesn't relax on plays.  For instance, someone for Oak Hill had a breakaway layup and instead of waiting for one of his teammates to do something....  Pointer took it upon himself and raced down the floor and made a heckuva block at the last second.

Sir'Dominic Pointer, SF, Quality Education Academy: The St. John's signee burst onto the scene during the summer and he's not looking back. "Ziggy" displayed his high-level defensive skills, ability to slash to the bucket and high running motor like usual. The pleasantly surprising part of his 19-point outing, though, is the development of his jumper. He hit on a few pretty 17-footers off of curls and the development of his jumper will really open things up for him.
