« on: June 15, 2011, 03:35:09 PM »
Hey,
I was just wondering if there was a list of the games that have been announced for the upcoming 2011/2012 basketball season?
Please correct me if I'm wrong;
vs. U of Arizona, Texas A&M, or Mississippi State Nov 17
vs. U of Arizona, Texas A&M, or Mississippi State Nov 18
at Kentucky Dec 1 ESPN
at U of Detroit Dec 5 ESPN2
vs. Fordham Dec 17
vs. UCLA TBA
at Duke TBA

Has anything else been announced and are these all correct?

I think those are the officials.  There has been talk of us playing St. Francis (NY) and also URI at some point.

That game at the United Center was the closest he ever got to Jordan.

hope our guys don't feel the need to also honor Dickie V and that Dickie V enjoys the night the same way that Louie C enjoyed his dedication night

That Detroit game is of waste time. I think there is no need for that game.

I don't mind it at all.  We have reached into Detroit to recruit with this class  (Sir'Dom) and this game certainly won't hurt our exposure to kids in that area.  A nationally televised game is always awesome for exposure.  And a road win like this will help our RPI much more than a win vs a team like Columbia at CA.  Detroit is an up and coming team and in what is sure to be a hostile environment it will be a tough game but I love playing mid-majors on the road.  Look at last season, our loss to Fordham turned us around.

I for one, like seeing Detroit (Mercy) on the schedule. Not every year, but once or twice (away & home). I usually complain when the same old opponents are scheduled year after year. That is why, I enjoyed the 2010-2011 season, with those teams that STJ played in the 2 tournaments.

That Detroit game is no waste of time. They have top 100 talents in Eli Holman and Ray McCallum. They hav a chance to be at the top of the Horizon League. Game is definitely not an easy game and might be a decent win for post season consideration. Also, as mentioned - Lab can prove that he gets his recruits chances to play near home, a good selling point.

Well, until the Johnnies go to play LSU or Tulane. ;)

It's a good idea to play road game in basketball hotbeds. Always seemed like Detroit is one of them. I mean seriously, what kid doesn't want to leave Detroit?

It wouldn't surprise me if we have an annual trip to the West Coast either...give the West Coast kids a trip home.

We owe them because Lopez took a characteristically stupid shot?

Re: Detoit being a waste of time, you cant and shouldnt schedule every non big east game against a Duke or Kentucky. Furthermore traveling to different regions of the country helps prepare them for the post season.

But man, I think this one's worse.
