Completely disagree in regards to this kid and Cole Anthony for that matter, leaving the area. Now if there are circumstances that will make life better for these kids at a basketball factory, so be it. That said...   Achiuwa was already at a great school for both academics & hoops and Anthony was too....

There is zero need to for these kids to raise their profiles nationally....    they could pick a school now and then cruise through Senior season if they wanted to or they could stay at their school and be driven to lead their teams to the next level locally...

These kids are local NY/NJ players  but when they do get college, they will be credited as being from Monteverde & Oak Hill...    when people keep claiming that the NYC/NJ area is losing a step in player development, it's total BS..     these kids that are learning the game at the youth level are bolting the area for one or two years at a basketball factory....

Cole made the right move. The team besides him at Molloy is going to stink and he doesn't have a shot at the city title with that team. They should of went undefeated with this past team. The coach is worse than Norm Roberts. I also heard that Moses would just walk out of practice whenever he felt like it! ha, way to have a handle on your team. Now Cole has a shot at a national title where he can finally win at CTK! =)

Cole is not at a great basketball school. Molloy isn't what it once was in terms of hoops. The coaches there now are clueless.

Them leaving the area has absolutely nothing at all to do with them raising their recruiting profiles. It has to do with them using this upcoming season to become better basketball players. Them "cruising through" their senior season won't make them any better, neither would playing against players that aren't close to being as good as them.

As far as NY players are concerned, it is makes sense academically for the stud NY State players to leave the state before their junior or senior year. It is easier for them to get the grades they need elsewhere and they don't have to bother with regents. That's a big part of why kids like Cole Anthony and Kofi Cockburn leaving is the new norm

Three relatively quiet weeks ahead for the program before league play, any trips down South planned?

I actually agree with you on this. Cole and Precious didn't need exposure, but Monteverde gives them a chance to better players with a top schedule, the best facilities, and better teammates.

They are both smart kids so I doubt the Regents scared them. Unless it has changed since I was a student, regents exams start freshman year in subjects like math and science and are all but finished after junior year.

Does the UCONN self imposed sanctions help us in the recruiting battle?

Let's hope so. Really really want this guy, his brother was a great dude and we are positioned to be a good springboard for someone of Precious' talent level. Can you imagine the matchup issues with LJ, Simon and Precious on the floor together?

Sanctions so far are self imposed. Would think that to affect recruiting NCAA would have to hit them with a post season ban.
