Hooper 2.0?

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Max-Hoetzel-154031

Junior Max Hoetzel has NBA RANGE Top player in 2014 class

Hoetzel is a stretch 4, listed between 6'7 and 6'8 after his soph HS season, expected to end up in the 6'9-6'10 range by the time he hits college.  He had a tryout in Berlin for the German U-18 team - he holds dual citizenship (Dad is German).

I don't know if there are any indications that Hooper is this athletic. This kid is a young, poor man's version of Dirk. Any connections in Calabasas?

I don't have access to rivals, but here's the ESPN insider scoop on Hoetzel:

Strengths:
Hoetzel is one of the top shooters for his size in the Southern California region. The hybrid 4-man has a nice frame with ideal length, solid springs, and a feathery stroke that extends out to the stripe. He moves well off the ball and he gets nice lift on his shot while squaring up.

 Weaknesses:
Hoetzel is a solid athlete, but he doesn't have ideal lateral quickness to guard wings at the next level. He needs to continue to develop his perimeter skills (triple threat game, up-fakes, etc.) to create space for his shot. In addition, with his size he needs to become a more assertive rebounder.

 Bottom Line:
All mid-level Division I schools need to take a peak this spring and summer at Hoetzel. He has the size and shooting touch to garner interest from the Big West, Big Sky, and WCC.

He looks like one of those hot shooting Gonzaga PF's that always kills us.  A PF that can shoot like he can would be nice.  Looks like Lavin wants to find a Kapono 2.0.

That means he'll be playing next to Okonoboh this year.  Would be nice if we could land both... ;-)

So he's coming to the NEPSAC.
Same route as another Max.

Aside from some nice shooting ability, he doesn't remind me of Hooper really.  He's more athletic and bigger.  Bit different skill set.  Nepsac should be good for him to gauge ability vs good competition.

Saw him I'm actually a fan. Dude is like 6'7 jump shot is water and he attacks the basket. Actually handles the rock and isn't BITCH. I don't think he will be a mid major player.

Lets get this guy!  If Lavin builds they will come!  We can be a Max Effort team on Max power with Max Talent.  Ok enough.

Happy Rappy Out!
