Jeff Goodman's Top 50 Teams for 2014-15

It's an ESPN Insider article, but suffice to say we did not make the list, and the Big East in general doesn't fare well.

Clearly, there must be some mistake.

In all seriousness, with Jordan as a soph, and Harrison as a senior, we should still be in the top 50. Although I wouldn't place us above 40. We haven't closed out seasons well, and there's good reason to not expect that to change.

Overall the the league has to be better overall to be respectable...Having all are team knocked out in the second round is not good. The BE was even overrated in the NIT which is sad.

Curious, but why would we be in the top 50 with those guys, having lost Sampson,Sanchez, and Gift and not having replaced them?  We weren't top 64 this season.  We croaked in the first round of the NIT.  How many more points is Harrison going to score?  He isn't going to average much more.  So who is going to make up for Sampson's snd Sanchez' production in the frontcourt?  Rysheed has to double his scoring and Greene increase as well?

Imo its tough to see us finishing in the top half of the Big East next year, regardless of the fact that we have nice guards because there's nobody in the front court to give the ball to.  That means our guards need to be able to torch the nets whine teams zone us or dribble-drive for sll of our points.  It's a stretch to expect that I think.

I think Pointer is going to have a good senior year. I think we are going to be good. Gift ans Sancez will be losses. They can be replaced.

Good.  This team hasn't earned anything.  They badly underachieved last season and they need to come out hungry and ready to earn their respect.

I love our fans.  It's not enough to complain about last year.  We need to complain about seasons that haven't even happened yet.

Agreed.  And this goes to my larger point I have been making.  Start with a poor ending to the regular season and combine it with the fact that unfortunately a 5 star recruit is not committing every day and some people need to find something to complain about EVERYDAY!!!!

Shocking ESPN giving a poor view of the Big East.

Why shouldn't they?? The league was incredibly mediocre this season.   The conference laid an egg in postseason play and outside of Villanova and G'town, made zero noise in out-of-conference games.  The Big East was the worst of the "high-major" conferences in the country this year, and its possible the league will be just as bad if not worse next season, especially because theres no bigtime attraction in the league like McDermott.  Our conference will probably be the 2nd weakest in the country in 2014-2015 after the AAC.

I don't think anyone is complaining in this thread. I think people are just incredibly disappointed in how short sighted Lavin was in terms of this 2014 recruiting class. We lost an excellent scorer in JaKarr Sampson and a solid forward off the bench in Orlando Sanchez. And the coaching staff hopes to replace that production with a redshirt (Christian Jones) and ADR.

Yes, maybe they land Keith Thomas this weekend. And maybe he's the answer to all our prayers. But I think it is very fair to say Lavin is in pure scramble mode for bodies right now. And for somebody taking home 2 million per season, that's kind of pathetic.

KRONOS interprets your comments as complaining. Please refrain from doing so in the future.

Is it complaining to be disappointed with the state of the program after Lavin brought so much hope when he arrived?

To some of us-yes, to some of us-no.

I'm a Lavin supporter and I am disappointed in where we are, and how the last two seasons have ended.  The two are not mutually exclusive.  There is nothing wrong with criticizing the staff for legitimate reasons---without the need to repeat it over and over, as some are apt to do.
