Agreed.  I don't follow them since they left the BE, but I assume Rutgers will be terrible next year too.  A win will mean nothing, and a loss will be a resume killer.

i am ok with playing rutgers as long as its not a yearly thing. definitely a winnable game.

The crappiest possible matchup.

It's a winnable game but the point of these matchup a was for exposure and schedule strength for the league. We get neither of those with a matchup against Rutgers.

We need to slow down a bit here and temper expectations

Honestly I would rather lose to a big boy than beat Rutgers.

I thought they might matchup Seton Hall with Rutgers for a NJ showdown but next year we could struggle while on paper Seton Hall should be pretty good.

This game won't be part of season tickets. We may not be the headliner. Do you guys remember when we played Georgia before UCONN played Kentucky? Their were less then 100 fans at the start of our game. This is one of the worst possible outcomes. Rutgers sucks. We will get a win. But we will have the same amount of fans for a Fordham game. St. John's vs Michigan would have been fun.

Based on our projected roster I will happily take this matchup next year.  Will all 10 Big East teams be playing?

Agree. Hoping it's not a home and away kind of deal though.

I was hoping we and Providence would play Michigan/Michigan State combo at MSG.  Would think other Big 10 team in doubleheader will be Michigan as BIG NYC following against possibly SH or Providence

This is the most uninteresting inter-conference matchup ever.  I'd much rather have the second to last big ten team instead of a re-tread that was just in our league a few years ago.  This is almost as exciting as DePaul re-hiring a coach that was already fired once.

Can anyone say 5,000 attendance (and that's if the weather holds up).  :(

Will likely be a doubleheader and think it will be a Michigan team--the 2 leagues will want a full MSG

Michigan providence will not sell out the garden. 5000 is a good guess.

So we get 3 home games for this 8 year BIG10 series. Rutgers is 1 of those 3. Sucks. Honestly im more disappointed about this then I am about Sampson. Maybe its because we knew sampson wasnt coming yesterday.

Unless this is the first game in the Mullin era, NYers will not come out to see this game.

The first Alumni hall game in the Mullin era will be sold out.  A game we would usually get 3 or 4k for.  Attendance will be up across the board.  An Msg Rutgers game obviously won't sell out but it will draw more than it typically would have during the Roberts or Hollywood eras.

If we're tanking,  you'll see attendance wane about midway through the conference schedule.

When Michigan played West Va 2 years ago at Barclays with us on the card the place sold out--their are a lot Maize and Blue alums in the metro area.  if they are on the card as a doubleheader it will be mobbed.  Also it will be a big game for RU--when they were in BE we only played them in Queens--they have "Garden Envy"

Rutgers played Iona in second game of DH with SJu in first game and they had no fans at MSG a few years ago. And they still stink.

At our game vs penn. state their was less then 3000. We rarely played Rutgers at the garden also. I can remember once. This could have been a great idea.

Illinois is playing at Providence, but there's been no indication that they would give up a home game to play at MSG. All the games are on home courts. Where are you getting this double header idea from?

Think of the marketing opportunity being lost by the 2 conferences.  They should have the 8 games in 4 doubleheaders in MSG, DC, Indianapolis and Chicago.  It also gives it a tournament feel for later in the year as teams play at a neutral site.

I agree if it is us and RU only at MSG it will be a depressing venue.
