I agree.
I disagree with those who think following is creepy or anything like that.  But the incessant tweeting the players directly especially when they are uncommitted is overboard.

More importantly I don't think it works and worst case I think it could turn off a kid.

Like or not it is a huge part of recruiting.  These kids do anything to amass followers and love the attention.  We typically suck at this type of recruiting (or anything fan-based).  I remember following some of the recruits during the Charlie Sheen meltdown (when I briefly signed up for twitter) and they were bombarded by other schools and loved it.

I don't think it works, either.  I also somewhat thought that it may turn off some kids.  Not all kids, as some may truly enjoy it.  But I do believe it probably turns off some of 'em.

It would turn me off but then again I'm not on there.  If it turns them off then why are they there?  It may just be a small factor for most.

Also should be considered that we are not 17 year old kids who think they are the center of the universe.  The way we view twitter usage is largely different from the kids.  I would imagine a good deal of them love the attention - and most are not bothered by trash talk b/w schools.

I don't like it except when ghandiii does it.  He's hysterical.
