Before last night I thought it might be Thabeet, but he got tooled on. Now I think Hazell or Johnny Flynn might be good pros, but they have to stay in college, I dont think theyre ready. Are their alot of future NBA players playing in the Big East? Im not so sure, anyway it seems like their is less NBA talent than recent years.
-
Kemba could become pretty damn good...Thabeet is still getting better every year...DeJuyan Blair is a beast he'll do well but he's a little undersized.
-
I think Kemba has the highest upside.

I think Kemba has the highest upside.
Highest upside of anyone in the Big East right now?
-
i like mcneal to be a real good combo guard. his teammate Mathews could be good. blair is going to be a beast as well, he just knows how to play
-
Flynn, hands down!
Blair will struggle in the pros and Thabeet does not have a polished offensive game, plus the NBA is moving away from classic centers anyway.

Thats what I was thinking. How is Roy Hibbert doing?

Forget Hibbert, Oden is struggling! NBA right now is a guard/forward league!
Mutombo would be his absolute upside, Hibbert would be his downside IMO.
Blair would not be able to play this way in the NBA!
-
AJ Price gonna make a roster? How about Scottie Reynolds? Devendorf?
Devin Ebanks could be a nice pro, again he needs to stick around awhile

what about Earl Clarke, Terence Williams, Samardo Samuels, Da'Sean Butler & Stanley Robinson...?

Absolutely. He has a higher degree of skill than Flynn and will have a much better shot.

Stanley Robinson? Is that a joke?

I guess if he wound up in the right system, but there are more failed undersized 4's than Milsap's

Greg Monroe has potential as well, but if I had to bet I would still go with Flynn.

You watch.. kid has everything the league looks for.. he is very athletic. . very long... huge upside..
and yes, he started and played 35 minutes last night in the biggest game of the year for the #1 team in the country...
-

Depends. Would be perfect 5 in D'antoni's system

Does a guy like Jeff Adrien get a shot? Too small I think
What happenned to the freshman from Cuse that left last year? Is he on a NBA roster? I cant remember his name

Right thanks. From the looks of it, he will be joined by a a bunch of fellow Big East players

Their are a couple of upper tier teams in the conference that dont have a pro on the roster. Villanova is one IMO

Name 5 guards on pro rosters right now that Reynolds is better than. This kid has no chance imo

Absolutely. He has a higher degree of skill than Flynn and will have a much better shot.
What does Flynn need to work on? Where is he lacking in skill?
Walker has Price and Austrie to help him along.
Flynn is basically alone.

Paul Harris and Devendorf are pretty damn good. If Devendorf wasn't such a dumbass, he could be in the NBA himself.
I think Flynn is a first rounder. I just think that Walker will be the better player and has much more skill and court savvy. It's not a knock on Flynn.
-
great question. i was obviously upset when we lost out on kemba last year and i saw him play a couple times at rice, but jeez i didnt know he was THIS good THIS fast. it's early but i like his chances to be at the top of this list.
i think terrence williams will be a much better pro than college player. threat for a triple double and great size and great court vision and an amazing athlete. his only weakness is one of the easiest things to correct with hard work, his jumper...he could be a good one.
also like monroe so far, didnt know he was such a skilled passer.
-
If i had to pick one gotta be Greg Monroe.
-
imo the BEST pro is either gonna be earl clark or greg monroe. i wanna put terrence williams or domique jones if he keeps up his style of play but those first two has the skills to be something in the L
-
Deonta Vaughn? I think he makes a team, has another year left. He'll have to play the point though
-
This exact same thread popped up on another SJU board? Wow
-
Deonta Vaughn? I think he makes a team, has another year left. He'll have to play the point though
I'd be surprised if he made it. There is no shortage of undersized combo guards.
I think Earl Clark and Monroe will put up good stats because their games are made for the current NBA games, but I doubt they'd be influential on a very good team.
I could see Kemba winning a ring with the right team. His skill level is incredible.
-
Fun to bring these threads back.
KOB and Amaseinyourface with strong showings. WASJU with a rare strikeout! Marillac again, looking like he can see into the future. Not the best prediction for PMG.
It's important to remember the date this thread was created.

I don't see Calhoun as a pro. I think semaj christion and maybe someone who others don't think so; Fuquan Edwin. I think he's got all the tools to be a solid role player in the league.

I forgot Christion - good one. Fuquan Edwin - I'll put Calhoun out there before Edwin, but they will be the crap shoot choices.

Maybe a 32 year old Sanchez gets a shot at the nba?

How could I have known Calhoun would be hurt so much. I thought he would be drafted. I will do mental evaluations before I ever consider players like Rysheed making it.

Don't be shy. Get in their and take your credit!
I think my predictions speak for themselves. A little surprised how bad Flynn ended up being, though, but I guess that you just have to assume that with JB's players in the NBA.

The obvious choice there was Marillac's swing and miss on Durand Johnson.

e there was Marillac's swing and miss on Durand Johnson.
Yeah kind of my point, the problem with making predictions about every player is there are some hits and misses. That's why I never make any, I'm never wrong. Whereas when I describe what happened I'm always right.
PS I purposefully didn't close the italics just so all this shite would be in italics. Right again. [/i] Ed note: and yet wrong also
I've created a monster.

Here 'ya go, Marillac....
I'm a huge Lazar Hayward fan. He is tremendously skilled. He also has above average NBA athletic ability. To have both is rare. He's clearly not a guy that is meant to carry a team as a scorer, though. He won't have to be at the next level. He's outstanding in the post, both rebounding and offensively. I'm anxious to see how he measures in at the combine. If he measures in at a true 6'6, I'm writing him down as a future all-star.

He measured in at 6'4. Very disappointing but that's all she wrote.

He's actually measured at 6'5" with shoes. Nevertheless, he's not even in the NBA at 6'4", and you said he'd be an all-star at 6'6". A couple of inches difference should, at least, net him more than a cup of coffee in the Association, right? :)
I'm just busting on you.

No worries Marillac deserves slack for missed predictions.
A few things, though...only measurements without shoes are reliable. Anthony Brown measured at 6'8.5 in shoes and 6'5.25 without shoes last combine.
Two inches in height when you are an undersized SF means everything in this NBA where 6'7 is expected and 6'9-6'10 is desired. Harkless is the perfect example of that when he measured at 6'8.5 it was over. If you are 6'4, you have to be able to play and defend the two unless you have insane wingspan to make up for it. If I didn't think two inches in height mattered, I wouldn't have specifically mentioned it. He was listed as 6'7 at Marquette.
He was lucky to be drafted late first round and play 3 seasons in the NBA after that measurement.

Frankly, I never viewed him as an NBA All-Star, whether he was 6'4" or 6'7". He may have lasted longer with a couple of inches to his frame, but I never saw his game materializing to be no more than an NBA journeyman at best. Maybe, I'm wrong. But we'll never know.
