When a recruit commits elsewhere, I don't think it's that surprising that it turns into more of an off-topic.  And is that so bad? First was about Baylor's lack of institutional control (not Gathers), then about Baldi thinking some programs are actually clean, then I brought up Iona, and then it snowballed.  THreads evolve by their nature...while it is FANTASTIC they are so organized here, to expect there won't be any digression is to ignore the nature of the beast.

Agreed.   There's a fine line between keeping things organized and breaking up the natural flow of a conversation by switching Topics.  Generally Dave and the mods do a great job though.   Maybe give a little more leeway to a conversation that is relatively related to the thread, and arose from that topic.   Plus, you often can tell when a thread is dead, and when it's not.    Not likely there will be much to say about Gathers anymore, so this doesn't bother me.
If the same conversation was cluttering the Michael Chandler thread, that would be different.   Just my 2 cents
