Pecora should be all over this kid.  Keep him local, A-10 is perfect level for him to succeed from the start.

I agree, Cluess too. You said earlier in the thread "Overheard his family mention 3 teams at the Rumble.  STJ, Gtown and BC", do you think Bernardi wants to go bigtime or go for the local school and the playing time right away?

I couldn't gather much from the family.  They loved Lavin, and the visit to Gtown went well.  That was before BC.  Personally I would choose to go sit on the end of a bench at a big school.  But that's me.  Not saying that to have him come here because I think that ship has sailed.  There are so many ways to skin this cat.  He can verbal to a small school, not sign and see if things change at big school and maybe better PT is available in the spring.  But if I was Fordham I would be all over this kid but I don't know their scholarship issues or depth chart.

Iowa St and Hofstra are two schools that I know of that are infatuated with him.

Hofstra is also recruiting Isaiah Cousins which would be a hell of a NY backcourt if they were to get him and Bernardi.

Thought Nichols was prepping and re-opening his recruitment?

Oh maybe, on rivals hes listed as a verbal. The Hofstra site hasnt updated their roster, but I think they lose their starting backcourt from last year

Dave I'm just curious... Have you seen Cousins at Hoop Group and if you have did you also see his teammate and fellow senior Randy Stephens?? Right now he's the least touted of MV's three seniors but I think that's due in large part to his short time in the program.  He moved to MV from Ossining last summer and his junior year last year was his first with Coach Cimmino. FYI he's 6'4" lefty has a long first step and, where I think he's better than Isaiah is on defense and with his passing.  There's some talk he already has an offer from Northeastern. If you've seen him what do you think of him??

Great crossover and the young man played some D

Ok crossover and he would have been smoked at the college level on the one defensive "zoom in" there was in this video. The competition looks relatively poor.  Doesn't look like a high major athlete to me...very stiff.  Looks like he added a lot of strength, though.

If he can knock'em down well enough, maybe Lavin asks him to walk on for a year?

Maybe it is time to move pass Brian as a potential recruit.  From reading his posts he appears to have a real good shot, but has some weaknesses in his game.  I do not think Coach is looking for a designated shooter at this time, especially with the talent he is going after.

I think Brian could have a good college career, but elsewhere.

It won't happen.  The kid wants to play.  We are already stacking a team with full complement of 13 studs on scholarship.  He's not walking on to come here to sit on the end of the bench with the team managers and Priest.  I'm not going to eliminate walkons because CRgreen is right around the corner with a story about Jon Crispin or someone.  But in this situation from the outset as a freshman Bernardi wants to play and contribute not collect dust on his Nike's.

Lavin was looking for a specialist shooter but Grennan, Bernardi, and few others unnamed didn't want to be just "shooters" which is perfectly fine.

Bernardi will do well for himself. He's a hard worker, very coachable, and he's got a great basketball iq.

I agree. He was only ever a safety net option in case Lav failed to land D Harrison. Unless he hits a 3+ inch growth spurt, he is not a BE caliber player given his lack of speed or pg skills.

The A-10 would be a great option for him though, or perhaps a lowly team in a major conf
