Not sure the story here. Was checking out Rivals and his name popped up. I've seen him listed for 2013 and 2014 so far.

Plan B?
For SJU?
Not conjecturing, just wondering.

“@AdamZagoria: UCLA asst Korey McCray is on his way to Kentucky to see 2014 PF Ray Kasongo and 2013 PG Emmanuel Owootoah, among others. Story later.”

I think Obekpa was everybody's plan B or plan C too... Never know with some of these kids.
-
The story makes him sound like the next Kyrie Irving.

Kid has some bigtime programs looking at him.

Zags tweeted that ucla was heading down to watch him play.

Not sure if it's Ewootoah they're focused on for this trip. They're making contact while they're in Kentucky, but think they're going specifically for fellow Canadian, Ray Kasonga, a 6'8-6'9 235 lb big they really want (probably turn out to be 6'7 220!). However, I would e happy if SJU and UCLA could split their two mutual 2013 PG targets - Rysheed and Owootoah. Either one at either school solves both schools issues at PG.

What issues do you have with freakin Larry Drew there and the other kid you have coming in.

Larry's graduating (he's a 5th year senior), and both Zach Lavine and Al Freeman are shooting guards. Zach can play some point, but it's a waste of his talent to use him there full time instead of SG. If Owootoah or Rysheed come, Zach would still play some PG, but only backup minutes. Greg Hicks of Scout projects him as having more potential than any of this years Bruin frosh. And this year's frosh are pretty good. He's talking Russ Westbrook kind of good.

He's crossing over kids that can't play defense, looks 5'8 and not super fast
-
Good handle but over-dribbles. Seems like he knows he's better that his opponents and he tries to show them up. Physically, he reminds me of Jabari Hinds. May be a bit smaller.

Kid has a knack for getting to the rim and finishing. Interest from UCLA, Arizona, and Kentucky. Has to be something the coaches see in him. And the kid is qualified! Doesn't sound like a bad backup plan to Sheed.

I still think St. John's biggest rival for Jordan is Temple

Florida and Kansas now shownng interest. If we were looking we might as well stop wasting our time.

Owootah's high school coach is former St. Anthony star Rodrick Rhodes - I am hearing this is potential package deal because Rhodes wants to get back into college coaching.
