If we can somehow go 4-3 the rest of the way going into BET we finish 15-16 4-14. BE record obviously disappointing but I predicted 18 wins which was around what most people thought. Considering Lovett thing 15 wins is not that far off where we would have liked to have been.

As far as takeaways, win only verified that Tony, Dinkins and Celtics are the worst "fans" in ST john's history.  Pretty big accomplishment beating out Baldi, Realfan and hard charging Poison.
Well if you say so it must be true. Yeah as a 45 year season ticket holder (who has also gone on many road trips to follow the team including several outside the mainland US) and alum I am among the 3 worst SJU's fans in history because I criticized our coach. You are the sole arbiter of all things ST. J's basketball. Hopefully I can ascend to undisputed champion of worse ST. J's fan in your eyes because that would mean so much to me.

In your defense you are a little older so you have earned right to be impatient. And a little secret I am only half serious half the time. Don't tell Tony he thinks I want Dick Vitale or a porn star to be our next coach when really it should be Walter Berry.
I just thought that you guys could have taken a day with complaining after Duke win. Even I knew to do that during Norm years.

Don't recall being at all critical after Duke unless you mean countering a poster who tried to rub it in to anyone who has been critical. Knew you had to be kidding when you said we were worse than Realfan.

Even before going that far to 4-3 ... and I obviously recognize this is a facetious hypothetical ... what if St John's miraculously beats # 1 Nova in Nova ... For me, I couldn't care what else happened the rest of the year ... but such a miracle may be the ultimate conundrum for NIT selectors ... me thinks ...

We were due for some breaks and we caught them.  Finally hit SOME free throws down the stretch. Didn't get totally screwed by refs against Duke on a neutral court. Missed goaltending call notwithstanding. And for first time since Lovett thing got someone to play Robin to Ponds Batman. Two of them actually.  I don't think that carries over to Nova but would like to see them maybe we 2 or 3 of others. Would have them on right track for next year.

True for next year, and having seen the roster molded over the last 3 years only suggests that we are on the right track despite the protestations of the detractors (see below). But a NIT bid somehow, someway this year ... would be a reprieve to cherish ...

Sedee Keita
Shamorie Ponds
Mikey Dixon
Justin Simon
Tariq Owens
Bryan Trimble Jr.
Marvin Clark II
Kassoum Yakwe
Marcus LoVett
Boubacar Diakite
J’Raan Brooks
Greg Williams
Josh Roberts

I will give YOU a pass. The other two are in the Realfan area code though.
But regarding you, how can someone possibly rub it in when when we won?
I do think the other two would have rather we lost to continue their narrative / agenda.
Think of it this way. I do not think Ponds is a good outside shooter. That does not mean I do not like Ponds. I like Ponds a lot. He shot great against Duke. Marillac and Mase have gone back to crazy town with him but I am not going argue because he shot well and I am glad he did. I hope Ponds proves me wrong every game.

I don't know if you're a good fan, but you're a horrible poster. You have the potential to be the worst poster but you're too mediocre to be as truly appalling as some of your competitors. Like David Caruso, he's a very bad actor but he'll never be the worst actor while Nick Cage and Keanu Reeves are still alive.

I hate to admit it but Tony's growing on me. It might just be the promise of free booze but his unremitting bile reminds me of a young me, albeit with a head injury.

I gave Celtic a pass because he played the Dad card with me. Soft spot for me.
You would have to play young card. My 9 year old quits every board game, video game and one on one game he plays when he gets behind. I once watched him and his cousin take an hour to play a game of basketball to 11 because both kept wanting start over when they fell behind by more than a point.
Stop with quitting stuff and you move way down list of annoying posters in my eyes. Just a thought but just come up with some different ways to say Mullins sucks. Originality is always appreciated.

Didn't mean other poster was rubbing in the win was referring to fact he was bringing up our criticisms on day of big victory. Same things you say about you and Ponds is same for me with Mullin. I saw him play in person for my team and be the best ever so of course I want him to succeed and have nothing personal against him (why and how could I, never met him) but the other side always labels critics as haters, it's ridiculous.

Hey I'll more than settle for being the David Caruso of posters. Loved him first season of NYPD Blue and thought show couldn't survive without him (obviously wrong about that and I continued to enjoy the show and Andy Sipowitz). Caruso rebounded nicely on CSI Miami although must admit I could do without his constant head cocking (requesting in advance leaving wording of last comment alone as we have had quite enough of sexual references on what is supposed to be basketball discussions).

Fair enough.

On another note, I would like to take a moment to give props to one of only two decent Duke fans in the world. The first is  our very own Tha Kid, the 2nd is the guy I work with. He went to Duke and when I came in this morning with my ST John's hat on he just laughed. He didn't once give the snarky enjoy selection Sunday comeback or remind me that when we last went to the final Four he was 2.

Most of my posts either come from the LIRR or the toilet. Nothing that happens there  should really bother someone else (unless they need the bathroom). Maybe you should calm down. Our coach was hired to do a job, he is payed very well. Either he does it well which would be great. Or he should be replaced. I believe he should not collect his entire contract if he doesn’t earn it.
That means:hiring a competent big east caliber staff.  Being a major part of the recruiting effort. Maintaining a roster. And preparing our team to compete. I don’t believe in passes. I don’t believe he has done a good job over the past 2.5 years. Sorry if that hurts your feelings. I hope he does better down the stretch (duke was a great start) or QUITS and takes no more. Obey from us.

We just beat duke. No one was negative. Still it’s one game. Season not over. Earn your paycheck coach. Just like everyone else in the world.

Nic Cage is an enigma to me. He seems to have some of the same over acting tendencies as Leo, turns in memorable performances  in Raising Arizona, Adaptation and Matchstick Men broken up by the shameful showings in Wickerman, Ghost Rider and the like. I've heard something about him having gambling issues which would the questionable decisions for scripts he's attached himself to.

As an aside, as many know, Nic Cage is the Nephew of Francis Ford Coppola who for the most part grew up in Queens and spent some time at Jamaica Highschool, (some 30 years after Paul Bowles passed through there) just a few blocks from campus, which I believe was shut down a few years ago.

Dont know about you guys but I watch Con Air every time it’s on tv. Which is about twice a week.

saw Nic cage a while ago cheating on his wife at chateau marmont he is a tool and actually not that big and the asian girl he was hooking up with wasn't the good looking. This was the time SJU played at UCLA during Lavin

Like David Caruso, he's a very bad actor but he'll never be the worst actor while Nick Cage and Keanu Reeves are still alive.

Funny you should mention that movie as a was present in LA at the directors pre-release showing of the movie and he spoke afterwards. Sorry to say memory doesn't serve very many other details.
