Nothing really new.
Usual kind words for Lavin.
If Duke officially offers him over Josiah Turner, it's over, unless Carolina makes a last ditch effort.
From same Zags article linked above:
Cook said he was also considering Big East locals St. John’s and Rutgers.

“I had a chance to form a relationship with Coach [Steve] Lavin,” he said of St. John’s. “He’s a real cool guy.
Hopefully during the season I could watch them and see how he runs the team.
 I’m definitely interested in them.”

a little better than just "kind words".  I like that he's interested in how Lavin & staff run the team.

He is really in the ring swinging with the big boys.  Wow.  If we jump out to a top 25 caliber team first few months with our proposed run and gun style, it is going to be raining recruits!

I noticed a handful of G'town fans who feels he's Duke's to lose.  I read somewhere a few months ago about his supposed-love for Duke and UNC.

I've always kinda felt it would be an uphill climb for us behind those schools.  But, I also believe we'll end up in his final 5 schools.  I'm hoping the longer it drags out (for those two schools to officially offer); he'll start to look towards playing at other schools.  We shall eventually see.

Nevertheless, I'd rather be his numero uno, but I'd take a committment from Cook by default.

Heck!  Word was we got our last Cook by default.   LOL
The Georgetown fans have been upset with DCA and Curtis Malone for a few years.
As for Quinn, he's about as tight with Nolan Smith as anyone, outside of his mother.

As you may recall, Nolan also finished his high school career at OH and is a loyal supporter of the Warriors.

Quinn Cook (Hyattsville, Md./Oak Hill) was terrific defensively. He set the tone by applying great full-court ball pressure and also pushed the ball on the break, where he made good decisions.

Quinn Cook, PG- There are other points with more quickness than Cook has, but few in the country can match his creativity as a scorer. A good jump shooter, he's also a contortionist in the lane who finds every possible angle to finish with off the glass. It won't be a surprise to see him play some two in college to keep his scoring on the floor. Similar to Scottie Reynolds, but more of a natural floor general.

Quinn Cook rattled off a list that included Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, UCLA, St. John's, Rutgers, Georgetown, Villanova and Connecticut.

Two guys that Malik Boothe could post up,  Kline and Randazzo, put out a rumor that Quinn had cut his list to UNC & Arizona. ::)

Narrows his list to seven schools....

Arizona, Duke, UCLA, Rutgers, St. John's, UNC, and Georgetown.

I guess seven is the "new" five schools trim down nowadays.

Quinn is going to Duke's equivalent of Midnight Madness.

Per Zagsblog....

St. John’s is also an option for Cook.

“They’re on my list,” Cook said. “I have a good relationship with Coach [Steve] Lavin. They’re definitely on my list right now.”

Wow, I hope for Quinn's sake that isn't all true.  Just looking at the injury it didn't look good.  Never like to see a kid go down without any contact.  I wonder if this makes schools like UNC and Duke back off a little.  It was weird to see Austin Rivers get hurt bad in that game too and then come back in and virtually play 1 handed.  A guy like Gilchrist has taken off a lot of these things and you can see why.

A mutual friend said he was angry at himself for trying that play right after the game. He could tell immediately that the injury was serious.

As for those 2 schools, I don't think this will be the deciding factor. Myck potentially opening things up will be more of a factor. The picture will clear up a lot by the middle to end of September.

Is Myck still looking to open things up?  I thought that chatter died down?  If so what does that say about Barnes losing two top recruits?   Also can Lavin get involved :)

Cook to miss 4 months.  Per DimeMag....

In the closing seconds of the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game at Venice Beach, Calif., last weekend, Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) point guard Quinn Cook came down awkwardly on his right knee.

The freak accident will cost Cook, a senior who is ranked No. 25 in the new HSH national Top 50, four months.

“I’ll be back though,” Cook told HSH Tuesday night.

Wow!  Good news for Cook.  Good luck, as well, from his injury.

This kid looks like he'd come in and right away contend for the league lead in assists.  Just love how he controls the game.

I really believe the key for us to get him is to rack up as many recruits, friends (seems like he's tight with literally everyone lol) of his as soon as possible and get them to convince him we got something here.  We can guarentee him the starting spot right away (I don't think any of those other schools can do that).  I know right now he's a big fan of St. John's and Lavin and there are players out there in his ear to come here with him but need to put the heat on a little more.
