Per Rivals....

Nurideen Lindsey, PG/SG, Redlands- The St. John's signee was a scoring machine during his day's at Overbrook High in Philly and has lit up scoreboards during junior college. Foul trouble and tremendous defensive pressure from CSI's guards got him off to a bad start but he rebounded. His first step is elite and he gets to the rim in a hurry and plays with lots of fire. There's lots of NBA talk circulating but we will have to see about that down the road. Providing he arrives in NYC, he should be an instant and major contributor for Steve Lavin.

" Providing he arrives in NYC, he should be an instant and major contributor for Steve Lavin."

What is that supposed to mean?

Yeah, just like JB1, JB2, Mason Jr., and Kennedy.  Nuri still has a steep path to get qualified.  He is doing a year and a half of credits in just one year and won't be done until the summer.  That line might be a reference to that.

Are you sure concerning this 18 months in a year.During the telecast of JC tournament it was mentioned every 30 seconds that he was a frosh but had sat out last  year at the school as a redshirt. Again per the telecast he on schedule to graduate.

Nuri is a freshman in  terms of eligibility.  He started classes last spring, and he needs to finish his degree to be qualified for 2011-2012 at the NCAA level.  He'll be taking summer classes to make up for the fall semester he missed, and will be a late arrival at St. John's if everything goes according to plan.

The guy in the broadcast said he had spoke to Lavin when he was visiting Redlands...and Lavin said there is no question Nuri would be starting next year.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

On Nuri's Twitter, he lists himself as starting PG for St. John's this coming year. Must be a promise.

Does any one know if our incoming PG made the AA list for JCs?

Doesn't look like it.

Let the speculation of his talents begin. (Sarcasm)

Nuri was 7th in scoring in JUCO D1 it looks like.
Leading scorer made 3rd team?
2nd leading was honorable mention
3rd leading was nothing either.

Weird?

Very weird, Moose.  Nevertheless, I still believe we've gotten a very, solid player.

2nd on Brad Winton's list of incoming JUCO impact players.  First time I saw him mentioned as a 'wing'

http://nationalhoopsreport.net/2011/04/19/incoming-top-jucos-entering-division-i/

2) Nurideen Lindsay (Redlands Community College)
Height: 6’4 Weight: 185 Position: SG/SF
PPG: 22.3 RPG: 5.5 APG: 5
Committed to: St. John’s
Notes: Lindsay is a high scoring wing who will bring instant offense to St. John’s next season. Many remember him from his high scoring high school days in Philadelphia, where he averaged 38 points per game as a junior. He then took two years off due to the death of a close friend and his younger brother. Lindsay has resurfaced at Redlands, leading them to the NJCAA National Tournament. He will have three years of eligibility at St. John’s.

Not making the AA list for CCs was indeed weird and strange!  But this could be a blessing for us and N. Lindsey.

I think some of the hype we throw on Nuri earlier as the second coming of Wilt (high school points) and either going directly to the pros or being a one and done has wilted a bit.

There is no question in my mind that Nuri is and will be a solid player.  His talents will fit right in with Coach Lavin's game plan, especially when it comes to scoring.

But look who is Number 1 on the division 2 list.  And guess who is on his trail based on the article in Saturday's NY Post
