Title: Big East Standings
Post by: hnk on January 27, 2015, 09:17:43 PM
We win our next two winnable games (at Creighton and at home against Providence)  and only Nova is more than one game ahead of us in the loss column.  We can be right back in the thick of things.

You're right.  And when we get to the easy part of the schedule in February like Lavin said we will really be cooking!

This team has gone toe to toe with the goliath's all season long, eventually we're going to see a breakthrough. Had Dee not been injured last weekend, that breakthrough could've already occurred. I believe that it will happen over the next 6 weeks, and expect to be in the top3 of the BE standings come Thursday of Big East wknd.

Paultz, in your opinion, where would be ranked nationally next week if we're 15-6 (4-4) heading into a Tuesday night matchup @Butler?

IMO the streak starts tomorrow:

@Creighton W 14-6 (3-4)
vs. Providence W 15-6 (4-4)
@Butler W 16-6 (5-4)*Breakthrough game*
vs. Creighton W 17-6 (5-4) *Back in top25, top 3 of BE standings by Monday Feb. 9th*

Agreed, but we'd be back in the top50 RPI, with a notable sweep over a Providence team that can have a similar resume for the 2nd straight year.

With this team it is senseless to project beyond the next game. Beating Creighton on road will not be easy, poor record or not. Let's get that one & go on to the next game.

and expect to be in the top3 of the BE standings come Thursday of Big East wknd.

That's extremely optimistic and will require a lot of leap frogging.

We're 2 back in the loss column, the Georgetown and Xavier matchups are going to be the real indicators.

 Xavier's sweep of Georgetown has been very impressive, I believe our guard play is better than their's, but Stainbrook is probably going to eat up Chris down low and around the paint with his footwork and touch. Georgetown is going to be bully ball, I expect both matchups to be splits.

I think Pointer should front him....and CO do the backside

Unfortunately, I think this will be the best SJU team to not make the tourney. I am not saying we will make a NIT run or even win a game. I just think this will be the most talented team we have had to not make the tourney since I have been a fan.

If everyone healthy, yes but with Harrison at 80% and Lavin not giving anyone a breather, it could be tough

Except that us rarely a one bid league, and the MAAC has been a one bid league every season for the last 30 years except two where Man and Iona snuck in.

Just asking how the fact that a team that has lost once since December 19th to the #3 team in the country isn't respectable.

Looks like Jaren Sina is leaving Seton Hall.  That can't help their cause much.

At first glance I thought it would hurt them a lot but he's been basically a 3pt specialist who has hit just over 30% of his threes. That's not helping the team much with that shooting. I think he has a good stroke so may have some upside but not sure this will hurt them this year much.

I think the BE might be a tad too high of a level for him. He's better suited for the CAA

Don't agree.

Go figure he leaves the team before Jordan leaves SJU.  I would have lost money there.

I think he can play at this level and has the ability to be better each year (making him a pretty valuable player as a senior).

Given his Dad's influence and rep in the NJ basketball circles, this must make Willard and the Hall look terrible.

He shoots 32% from 3 and 33% from 2. His TO rate is way higher than his Assist rate and he's a defensive liability. He should be in the CAA or maybe the second tier of the A10

He is a sophomore - with his work ethic and basketball knowledge, I think he will get better.  I've watched a number of Seton Hall games, and he is noticeably more comfortable this year than last, even if the stats don't show it.  I admit though I might be biased because I like the kid and he played so well against us the first game.

I think that is correct. Get at least one, finish these six at 3-3 and get ready for a solid Beast tourney showing. I hope I get to see the first GTOWN win Tuesday.

biggest difference moose is the players here seem to like jordan. the players at SH ( the freshman) hate Sina. Its a toxic situation that he needed to get out of.
