This is becoming embarrassing. We cannot sustain a program off of transfers alone. We are going to field a mid major team from the 2019 recruiting class.

https://www.prepcircuit.com/news_article/show/951419

Curious why you would edit the quote to take out the reference to Saint John's? The sentence you have in quotation marks does not appear in the article you linked to.

The article says:

"His most recent visit to a school was an unofficial visit to St. John’s, which he found to be a bit eye opening.

“It was great and surprising for me,” he said. “It’s in Queens, but when you step onto the campus you see the arena and where people are staying. It has its own identity, which is cool. Coach Mullin and Coach Abdelmassih believe in me as well.”

[...]

He sees six schools being the most active with him right now and it looks like all of these programs are strong contenders to land him.

“I would say Clemson, UConn, La Salle, Seton Hall, St. John's and Providence have been the most active with me,” he said."

That kind of makes you a liar, huh.

If that's the case I apologize. However, if that's the case then Pat Lawless redacted Dawes' quote, which makes him a hack. Because the names he took out were in the middle of the list. I don't how that's inadvertent.

I can vouch for Quanman.  His quote was accurate when he posted it.  The article was later updated.

if the piece was amended, I apologize as well but the time stamp on the article says 2:45pm 9/19/18 - and you posted about it at 4:10....

If they changed the original piece, wouldn't the time stamp indicate an edit was made to the original..?

Maybe that is not done on every site...

Gotcha. Yeah, I hadn't seen that igiehon had cancelled for this weekend before I asked you. Maybe they realized they could devote 100% of their energy to him if he came this weekend.

Agreed. Probably extremely unrealistic but a class of Dawes, cockburn/ precious/ igiehon and another top one hundred guard like quinones would be enough for me to ignore all of my concerns about this regime.

It will take a 20 win season and a tourney appearance to have any shot at cockburn/igiehon.

Can someone provide insight into Dawes' skills? I know many on the board, along with apparently the coaching staff, were very high on Jalen Gaffney and viewed Al-Amir as plan B.  I know they have similar builds and 247 ranks Dawes higher in both their rankings. Just curious how the two compare.

Another loss for Mullin?  Who could of saw that coming.

Can't recruit, Can't coach, Can't develop players.  Mullin better get to NCAA tourney, or this guy should be fired as soon as selection show is over.  One can only dream either happens.

There appears to be an aura of arrogance surrounding this staff. They believe they don't need to build relationships with 15-16 y/o kids. It's beneath HOF players to have to kiss up to a kid. Don't you know who we are? We are Chris Mullin and Mitch Richmond! Who wouldn't want to play for us! No, they don't know who you are, nor do they care.

This might actually be a good thing. The new AD must be doing internal reviews of each of the sports teams. Wouldn't be surprised if each St John's coach and their staffs will have a thorough meeting with presentation/discussion of their programs.

Recruiting, staff and coaching of the main revenue producer for the athletic department will be examined more objectively than in the past. Mr. Cragg was a great hire by St Johns, hard to believe we actually got him. He will be front and center on this.

-There is no sugarcoating this, 2019 has been a abject failure. However, each blow has occurred at the guard position, where we're stacked.

-I won't get into the Rice detail, idk what happened there so I won't pass judgement or assume anything one way or the other.

-A 38-60 (12-42) record doesn't mesh well with top50 and top100 recruits. Despite all of the hope that we have for this season the Fall Signing Period doesn't have the patience for hype. Players want results, so we're stuck.

-Much like Gaffney, I can see why Dawes was skeptical of playing time at the guard spot. We have depth for years to come, I'd love to argue with anyone about it.

-To reiterate my comments when Gaffney bolted for UConn, things aren't in crisis mode for me unless we strike out in the front court, where we have holes everywhere. If we don't land 1/3 of Kofi-Aidan-Precious I will start to flip out.

-Our success this year will have us land a grad transfer guard or one elite guard in the Spring signing period.

Or any other stupid excuse you have come up with.

We have potential to be loaded at the guard position for years to come however we have no idea what Greg Williams will be or if Mikey Dixon and Eli Wright are Big East caliber players. Assuming Ponds and Heron leave after this year, we'd have a senior Justin Simon, Williams, Eli, Dixon and Trimble. Lots of question marks in that group plus trimble who's garbage.

Yup. He better make the tourney this year or Cragg will have to seriously consider finding a new HC. Not even the most diehard Mullin supporters will be able to defend him at that point.

A "student" athlete who is getting a free education courtesy of money that donors and alumni,  like me,  pay for. I have no problem criticizing a kid who was ranked 343 coming out of hs, plays defense like his shoes are made of cement and who only shot 32% from 3 despite being labeled a knockdown 3 shooter.
