It would have been awesome if Harkless stayed with the Puerto Rican team. Hopefully he pops in a few times to help out. That would be a great recruiting tool for us.

I don't know if there are just more leaks with this staff... but they are reaching out to a much larger pool of players it appears.
They visit everyone.

New article about last night's game CTK and Alvarado beating Brentwood and quotes about him from coach.
From the clips I've seen, he's very good high school player but nothing wowed me that he'd perform at a very high level in college. Good backup plan but not seeing him as a key piece to puzzle. Hopefully if he ever ends up here he's proves me wrong
-
If they need another point guard shouldn't they try getting somebody with a much better upside

Unless you're an elite program, you can't have 13 top kids.. There is nothing wrong with having a nice 4 year kid who is willing to play back-up for 2 or 3 years and then step up his last two.
Plus, you also have the benefit of recruiting a local kid.
-
It would appear CM is planning on an elite program

It would appear CM is planning on an elite program
Then why are we recruiting Alvarado?
-
I don't mean any disrespect to him but if they are going after Duval don't you think they should be going after better point guards than jose
-
Kid has almost 2 years to develop. If anything I trust the staffs eye for talent.
-
I just have a feeling that this staff can get it to where Fran was taking them
Lavin could of I think he was one the best finisher in recruiting but his heart was not in it after the first two years
I still trying to figure out why Norm couldn't get more elite recruits great guy and recruits extremely well for kansas
-
Recruiting for Kansas or kentucky is not the same as recruiting for st. john's.

Exactly!

Every team needs 2-3 guys that are willing to work their ass off without thinking they are entitled to anything but being a member of a good team. Even Kansas and Kentucky round out rosters with these types of kids -- it just so happens that sometimes those kids are top 150 players or decent JUCOs or transfers.
I think this is something that SJU fans fail to grasp. If you have 13 top 75 kids...3-the chances are that 3-4 of them (and their "camps") are going to be very unhappy and that could easily ruin a season. With a kid like Alvarado, Mullin can be very up front from day one about his contributions mainly coming in practice and off the court the first 2-3 years.
-
I've been watching him since junior high. Not a big fan. I think he's a fine A-10 player. He's peaked IMO. He's a little older as well. We can do better.

Agree with this. If Alvarado buys in and accepts his role early in his career, he's a nice addition. Worst case he transfers, best case he pushes Lovett and can be a steady upperclassman in a few years.

Agree
-
I kind of like him.
I like his moxie, he definitely has his head up and can run a fast break. Also loved when he set up that steal on the inbounds after a made basket, shows how crafty he is. He looks real comfortable in the pick and roll as well. My only question s can he shoot it from deep? Hasn't shown that yet. I think he would be a pretty good 4 year PG for us. Not a star but the kind of kid who's a pain to play against.

Slice used to do that all the time at Pitt.

Exactly. A kid like Ron Ramon comes to mind.

Why ya think?

Why ya think?
Are those the 2 top schools pursuing him?
-
Gtech too, I believe. There were others but I have no idea how serious the interest.
Have heard mixed things. Some people think the kid could do very well in one of the big conferences. Others think a step down conference-wise is better.

That's what I'm thinking. Looks like the bigs dropped off this kid. He should go play for Massielo

Why not Iona.

Not good enough

Yeah Right - Manhattan is a better coach team - in the same league.

Are you going to continue with this all year? We get it - you don't like some of Baldi's posts, etc.

Lol. Good job outta Scheppy with the scoop

I get the same scoop as you do,
You make believe you get the scoop but all you do is report what Zack Braziler and Adam Zageria report and play it off like somebody would actually tell you something.

At least I don't pretend I get first hand information like you do.
And by the way the email you send you received Zack posted the same information on his website yesterday.
I was only posting the same information that you always post like Richardson was a lottery pick how did that work out.
