Can Rob Thomas do this regularly?
« on: December 20, 2008, 07:03:28 PM »
Rob Thomas had an awesome day but an we expect something close to this on a nightly basis? He ran out of gas tonight but can he get more wind and strength as the season goes on or will he break down?

Tough to tell right now.

Definitely a confidence builder. Let's see how he does against better competition tomorrow.

The more time he gets on the court the more comfortable he's going to get.

He's got a window to show he belongs on the court while JB is hurt

I hope he does well. Those blocks were nasty

Good game by Rob. Nice to see but let's see how how well Rob and the Team plays against better Teams.

i won't expect the blocks at all - Rob didn't get that high.  But the offensive rebounding and touch around the basket is something we've seen from him last year as well...

he looked very good in the first half.  he had cramps in the 2nd half.

let's see how he does versus ACC competition before we say "do this regularly" he did this versus Marist..

I don't think it has to do with the competition but can his body handle it. I know Rob is going to have a good midrange game, will hit offensive boards, and get points around the basket but can he do it for extended time? 20+ mpg.

Like Peter said I think the blocks was a fluke but definitely awesome to see tonight.

i think rob plays from the neck up, and he does very well.
he was great today. good for him. stepped in when given the chance and he played great.

I wouldn't expect him to say he's hurting or tired. He's a competitor.

I'm curious how his legs feel by game time tomorrow and then after the game tomorrow.

he said he has aches and pains sometimes.

he doesn't have to say he's 100%, he could have said he's still on his way and is about 80% there.

You are not the only one who has spoken to Rob ;)

Also if he has aches and pains would you classify that as 100 percent?

Play nice  you two!

Yes, that's me sending Dave and Randomhero to their respective corners for once, instead of Dave trying to separate us :)

Time to compromise you 2. Let's just say Rob's at 78% ;)

My point was no matter what he says he still isn't 100% which is just the nature of things. You can see it in the way he runs up and down the court or how he goes up for boards. I wasn't trying to be combative in my responses.

I'll take 78.6%  ;D

So we can assume he's playing today?

So we can assume he's playing today?

I'd expect him to be starting again. He gives up 3 inches but he outweighs VT's starting center. Dele will be first one off the bench and we'll see if he can stay out of foul trouble.

LOL !!!!!

Let's see if I can walk outside without an umbrella for an hour and not get wet.

Neither will happen ;)

Yes both scenarios are unlikely but every now and again Dele has himself a decent game. Then again every now and then people hit the lotto. We'll see

I'm just happy Thomas may play.  When he was down on the sidelines yesterday and they began to drag him (literally drag him) to the corner I figured he was out for the year.  They looked like they were pulling a big whale onto the shore.
