Other than a "text" that Zagoria saw,
Has Nuri "announced" yet ? (I guess its only noon out west ?)

His twitter he said big announcement today,
and people have twittered congratulations... but ?

I haven't seen it anywhere else (except zags, here & redmen.com)

Leave your phone number and we'll have Nuri give you a call :)

Hey moose- I thought I was asking a valid question.
Scout & Rivals had no article that I saw & no one on either site had linked any news yet
But looking forward to Dave B's interview w Nuri-

Welcome to St Johns Nuri !

Since you found the time to respond to me as opposed to the others who wondered what else you needed I will again say.

What else did you need?  Personal tweet from him saying his choice.  Zags the master of Text Messages relaying what he said.  I was joking hence the :) after my post but honestly I'm not sure what else was needed.  Rivals is HS and doesn't do much on JUCO's.  JUCO Junction is their affiliate site that handles JUCO news primarily.  Scout I stopped checking because that site is pretty close to being a flushed toilet.

He's on board.
Onto the next now.

Does anyone know if there are any recruiting sites that evaluate jucos, or is that over now?

JUCOJunction.com like I mentioned above.  Juco rankings traditionally come out in November because there is often turnover on where kids go, so they wait until the season starts.

Never seen him play and there is not much out there. Would Darrel "Showtime" Hill be a comparison? I know he is taller but a healthy Showtime this time playing with good players would be awesome. Again I don't know much about him but he is  a combo guard that can score.

Nurideen Lindsey was once alternately thought to be on a path to breaking Wilt Chamberlain's Philadelphia High School scoring records or to academic ruin. Neither turned out to be true. The point guard's path led to St. John's.

Lindsey, the former Philly prep star now at Redlands CC in Oklahoma, accepted a scholarship offer from the Red Storm Tuesday. The other finalist for his services was Auburn, though Kentucky, South Florida, Oklahoma State and LSU all were involved too.

"The thing that made St. John's right for him was the relationship and comfort he has with the coaching staff," said Redland coach Yaphett King. "They made it clear with their action how much he mattered to them. Every opportunity they could see him, they were there."

Why doesn't he just come to SJU now? Why is he going to junior college? Does he have to go JC? He was going to  Lasalle never heard he didn't qualify? If he came 2ND semester could he be eligible this year? If he came 2ND semester even if not eligible could he practice and save year of eligibility?
Thanks if anyone knows

No he needs to go to JC for a year and should have enough credits by the summer.

As St. John's coach Steve Lavin has criss-crossed the country selling a new vision of Red Storm basketball, he has emphasized two points:

St. John's is the only college that calls Madison Square Garden -- where every NBA legend has played --home. And Lavin believes he has the staff, headlined by former NBA assistants Mike Dunlap and Rico Hines, that can get players to buy into that promised land of hoops.

That's what sold former Philadelphia schoolyard legend Nurideen Lindsey on St. John's. The 6-3, 185-pounder verbally committed to St. John's yesterday, said Yaphett King, Lindsey's coach at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Okla.

King said Lindsey, a natural scorer, has been working the last year on point guard skills and is looking to play that position at St. John's. Lavin has signed some of the top wings in the country, but knew his first class would be lacking without a point guard.

I don't think they spend much time evaluating JUCOs.

Exactly, peter!  I wouldn't worry about ESPN's rating of JUCO's.  They do not evaluate 'em and I believe all of their JUCO ratings are the same.

From all reports, Lindsey is supposedly a very good player, nrb.  As, panther2 stated on Redmen.com several weeks ago....  Word is Lindsey is a future pro.

No sweat, nrb.   ;)
