Does anyone know where/when they are taking place and how they are going? Thanks in advance.
-
I know Iona/SJU played a few weeks ago. No scoop from either end
-
Thanks.....
-
Just a guess but ok if not Baldi would be sounding off.
-
You know SJU out played them or we would of have heard how great Iona is
-
Haven't heard either way, and I have asked. I do think St Johns would win 8 out 10 times this early in the year.. Gonna be a rough Nov/Dec for the Gaels with all the new faces. when all is said and done, it will be Iona and Monmouth again.
I think the ncaa frowns on scrimmage talk which is maybe why there is no scoop
In Baldi's perfect world, both the Johnnie's and Gaels would go deep in March
-
Doesn't SJU have just as many new faces they Iona

Iona has 5 players returning, 1 of which missed last season with an injury and I don't t expect to be ready to go until January.
What about St John's Bill?
-
Correct me if I am wrong they have 11 guys eligible this year.
Three Freshman and two that didn't play at all.
I know I am a SJU grad not an Iona grad so I cant possible be as smart as you but that leaves 6 returning players that played last year.
One more than Iona big deal.
-
Returning:Moose, Malik, Amar, Williams, Sima, Yawke.......returning but didn't play: Lovett, Owens.......new and eligible: Ahmed, Freudenberg, Ponds, new and sitting a year: Simon and Clark. No idea about Iona.
-
If you look at it we are actually the same as Iona -.
We have 5 that played - three that didn't or barely and three new comers.

I did hear that Fordham did well against Iona. The Fordham bigs had their way. Severe was unavailable because he is finishing classes at Fordham. I like the PF Sengfelder alot, don't know why he stayed in that sht program
-
Baldi, when? where? is the next st. john's/iona contest?

Will ask around. But it seems like this is a dead period for scoop

It seems that If summer classes are done, so are the scrimmages

Fordham could be ok this year. New coach had some small moments.

SJU beat the pants off both Hofstra and Iona, but got taken to the woodshed by the third team of scrappy alumni led by Scheppy and Poison. Poison was apparently unstoppable until he was ejected with his second taunting tech for screaming how bad international and juco players were. Scheppy was also ejected after getting hit with two quick techs...the first for a groin chop to Freudenberg and the second immediately after for throwing a chair in disgust that the ref would call a tech on an alumnus. Lavin took them out for Chinese after and all was well.
-
Are you the same guy that said the Met Farm system was so good that you can give a couple of non top prospects for Chris Sale.
You just prove you no less about baseball than Doris or short Al that use to call the wfan.
Next time you make a trade proposal at least get in the real world not your fantasy world where the mets have all these outstanding prospects,
-
I think it's likely we will have a little bit better relationship with Iona considering Mullin was around at same time or right after Cluess I believe.

How did Derian Williams look?

Dave, this topic was about Iona and/or Hofstra practicing against St. John's players in the summer as reported by Jon Rothstein. Not a big deal but I think it belongs in regular basketball section.
