Daniel Dingle (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's)
2012, PF, 6-6, 225 pounds
He's definitely not the biggest four man height-wise, but it's not his height that sticks out. Dingle is savvy, sees the court and has a strong feel for the game. He'll be evaluated by the big schools but may find more opportunity and a better fit one notch below the big-time programs. His brother, Dana Dingle, played at UMass.

Do these 3 guys (Dingle, Calhoun, and Okoro) look like main focus of the staff for 2012?

Shouldn't be.

He's going to blow much like Tobias Harris did. He's actually working with the same trainer. I think he could play inside at PF in the Big East but I could also see him moving outside to play the 3. I really like his game.

Daniel Dingle is at his second St. John's game in the past month. The St. Raymond (NY) forward is very interested in the Johnny's.

“At this time my recruitment is still wide open. I’m considering all the schools that are recruiting me, such as Xavier, Arizona, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Florida State, Boston College, Kentucky, West Virginia, Iowa State, WKU, George Mason, Fordham, UMass, St. John’s and other schools I can’t remember right now off the top of my head,” responded Dingle to a message inquiring about the schools actively recruiting him that he would consider.

Dingle indicated the three schools recruiting him the hardest are “Xavier, Arizona and Rutgers” but quickly added his position of being very open at this point in the process.

“There are no current leaders at this point, each school is equivalent to one another at this time,” he said.

Dingle has offers from Auburn, Xavier, Arizona, Rutgers, Seton Hall and UMass, where his older brother Dana was a star, and is also being recruited by Boston College and Temple.

Larranaga already using his NY roots.

BTW-Things will have to break down on other targets for Dingle to be a 2012 target for SJU.

One of the top uncommitted 2012 players at the camp was Daniel Dingle, a 6-foot-6 power forward out of St. Raymond’s (NY). He listed offers from Auburn, Temple, Xavier, Arizona, and Rutgers to go along with interest from Florida, Miami, Texas, and others.

Dingle said he does not have any favorites, but did note that a few schools are coming at him the hardest.

“I’d probably say Auburn, Temple and Arizona, those are the three,” Dingle said. “And Florida, Florida too, coach Norm [Roberts].”

At this point Dingle has visited Auburn, Temple and Rutgers. He does not have any visits scheduled, but may is thinking of working out a trip to Arizona.

I'm just not a big fan of his game as I don't think he translates to our system all that well.  I could be wrong.  He's really not a great athlete.  He has some skills for sure, but we play fast tempo ball.  He reminds me of a guy like Ty Grant.  I'm not saying he'll be as good as Ty Grant, but similar style but more perimeter skills than Ty.   He's a below the rim type guy and not the style of player that we are recruiting under Lavin IMO.
