It's been a nine-year wait, but Sunday St. John's will participate in one of the great rituals of college basketball. The Red Storm will gather at a private function at the New York Athletic Club and watch for its name when the NCAA Tournament bracket of 68 is revealed in a televised broadcast. CBS, which carries the show, will have cameras on the Johnnies as the tournament draw is revealed.

D.J. Kennedy, the 6-5 senior who tore his right ACL on Thursday in the Johnnies' Big East quarterfinal loss to Syracuse at the Garden, will be on hand. He's become a rallying point for the team and coach Steve Lavin intends to keep him on the team bench through the end of the season as sort of an "assistant coach."

"I'd like him to try to see things through the eyes of the coaches," Lavin said. "He's a part of all we've done. He'll be a part of all we do. I want him to have another experience that enriches his experience."
