Per Rivals....

Mike Young (2013, Playaz 16-U)

Young simply controls games in the paint. There is a maturity to his game in that he plays with a great motor but at the same time plays within himself. He defends, rebounds and finishes when he has the opportunity.

Mike Young has a Connecticut offer to go along with offers from St. John's, Rutgers and Seton Hall.

The title of that article is so deceiving.  It makes it seem like we're his favorite, when he is quoted in the article not knowing much about us outside of us being in NY.

2013 St. Benedict's (NJ) PF Mike Young will enroll at Hudson Catholic (NJ) next year after coach Roshown McLeod's departure.

“The newest offer is UConn,” said Young said Saturday at the Rumble in the Bronx. “The rest of them are still the same though I got Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Seton Hall and Rutgers.”

On Sunday in a 59-57 loss to Plainfield (NJ), Young finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds in the contest. Following the contest Alex Schwartz caught up with Young for NBE about the latest in his recruitment and Young said he has offers from Baylor, Florida, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Rutgers, Seton Hall and Pittsburgh with St. John’s, Marquette, Virginia and others being involved as well. Young currently does not have any favorites right now, nor does he have a timetable for a decision.

Don't think we are really involved with him at this point

Just did an interview with the Pitt Rivals.com site.  Pitt has always been considered a fav of Young since he grew up in Pittsburgh.

Says SJU is on his list.  Does not mention the two NJ schools RU or SHU.

"My list right now is St. John's, Miami, Pitt, Florida, West Virginia, Xavier, Georgia Tech, Marquette, and Virginia. I am still open but those are the main schools involved right now."

SJU is still noted.

“@JonRothstein: Mike Young keeps getting better. Already has made shots from the perimeter + seems to have added a baseline drive. Stock rising.”

I haven't seen him play yet but if he's a legit 6'9, then he would be a smart target to either complement Jermaine or Plan B in case Jermaine goes elsewhere.

He is a native of Pittsburgh and I think the Panthers are the current favorite for his services.

Visited Pitt again just recently:

"I didn't spend a lot of time at Pitt but the visit was great," Young told Panther-Lair.com. "I felt like it accomplished a lot. I continue to get more comfortable with Coach Dixon and I was able to get a different feel from the program outside of the season. The visit definitely helped them a lot.

"The coaches just wanted to tell me that I am the number one priority for them at power forward. It is always good to hear that. I am looking to play right away and that is the first priority for me. "

Young plans on deciding on a school before his season starts. Although he did not get to spend as much time as he would have liked at Pitt last week, it was still a positive experience that should give Jamie Dixon a good chance at his signature in the early signing period.

"At this point, all of the schools recruiting me have a great chance."

From the same Alex Schwartz piece on Martin, Young basically lists the same schools as he consistently has been doing for weeks:

Young listed offers from Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Miami, Florida, St. John’s, Xavier, Georgia Tech and Marquette. He is also hearing from Baylor.

“No, I like them all the same,” Young said of whether he has any favorites at this point.
