Mike Davis at UAB - Building a Program - 2009 Class

I was shocked to see that UAB has a top 10 recruiting class for 2009. Mike Davis is working overtime. A school with no basketball tradition.

5. UAB, three verbal commits

Having UAB on this list is not a misprint; coach Mike Davis has delivered some monumental verbal pledges to Birmingham. One top-5 prospect, 6-9 PF DeMarcus Cousins (Mobile, Ala.), has the talent to not only build a program, but his presence could help shift the balance of power in Conference USA. ESPN 100 combo-guard Tamir "Pops" Jackson (Newark, N.J.) should have plenty of room to operate on the perimeter due to Cousins' interior presence. Juco 6-10 PF Maurice Bolden will add depth along the front line for the Blazers.

This is a true sign that this guy can recruit. It going to be interesting to see how this shakes out with wins and loeses in the future. Once they start winning he will be able to land more big recruits.

This is a prime example of how the right coach can gets kids into a program very quickly...

Second year and he is bringing HIGH level talent...   not waiting around for "sleeper" or "steals" late in the signing period..!!

Davis will end up in another high prfile job..    he replaced a legend at Indiana and it was a brutal situation for him...
