That Jan. 3rd showdown with Butler is looking nice!  #20 vs. #23.  When is the last time two ranked teams squared off at Alumni?

Rooting for Butler to be ranked. They lost to an OK Tennessee team yesterday. They play Indiana Saturday. Would be great if both are ranked. I remember playing Boston College with Troy Bell when both were ranked. Place gets loud when full.

Butler has to get through Indiana and starts their Big East schedule at Nova. Would love for them to be ranked but I'm not sure that they will be.

I was wondering the other day and wasnt able to look it up, but when was the last time st johns won an pre-conference game as a ranked team? Was Hatten ever on a team that was ranked in the preseason?

Jarvis had at least 2 also. Elite 8 team plus the next year we were a 2 seed in tournament. That team won at Duke

Yes Jarvis and Lavin are the 2 coaches since Louie. I try not to mention our 2nd greatest coach of the modern era by name as so many still hate him.

Mahoney was allegedly ranked 25th twice.

Yeah Jarvis did it with Frans kids, what happened to his recruits?
Oh that's right they were juco transfers, I credit jarvis/Frachilla 50/50 with getting to the elite 8.
Atleast Lav is getting it done with his own recruits this year.

You know what I sort of remember that. early in Lopez Frosh year.Ok three coaches. Maybe Mahoney got a raw deal ;)

Fran was a better recruiter, but let's remember, he's not perfect either. With his juniors, he was far worse than Lavin was last year with his. Fran had a strong season w Lopez, Grant, Artest, Hamilton and Postell in 97-98. That much is undeniable.

That is all nonsense anyway. So Mahoney could only do well with Louie's leftovers. Fran with Mahoney's, Jarvis with Fran's and Lavin with Norm's. That is not how it works! Guy who coached the players that particular season gets the credit. gets the credit.
