why does no one make a big deal out of the NFL being 2 years?
It's 3 years for the NFL.
You can come declare as a junior or a redshirt sophomore.

High School football players aren't ready physically or mentally for the NFL.

most high school players need to redshirt to even be physically ready for college football nevermind the NFL.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

The NFL is in its own world in this age rule topic. In my opinion this is the only sport were players are fully developed. College is the minors to get bigger, stronger, and faster. Picture a freshmen declaring for the draft, He will get kill by guys who are experience and physically develop IMO.
