The Coveted 7 Seed

Avoiding Villanova in the 2nd round of the BET is this week's goal, but it's now a rather large task.

At (7-9) we basically have to win out @Creigton and vs. Providence to make our percentages greater:

At (13-16), Providence, Marquette and Hall hold tie breakers over us if they lose out and we split. If we sweep this week and finish at 9-9 however, one of them losing out can get us the 7 seed.

DePaul upsetting Providence would set up a matchup on Sunday for the 7 seed, but once again they hold the tiebreaker over us, making Tuesday night in Omaha a must win.

Having overall record being a tie breaker for conference tournament seeding makes no sense to me. Was is always like that?

Don't know for sure what it is now but it used to be what you did against the teams ahead of you in the conference. For example if two teams were tied for 7th and one swept 10th place DePaul while the other split and beat say Nova they would win the tiebreaker.

I thought it was still that particular way.

We have tiebreaker over Providence assuming we beat them.  Head to head is first tiebreaker.  Our chances went way down when Providence beat Marquette.  But right now if Depaul beats Providence and we beat Providence then we get 7 seed.

Record vs. highest seeded team is the second tie breaker.

Marquette beat Nova so they have the tiebreaker over us

Assuming Seton Hall loses out we would have the tiebreaker over them since we beat Butler and they didn't.

That's not how it works as noted above.

It's head to head then its record against the top teams in the league.

To finish the BE season Marquette has @Xavier and home vs Creighton.

Seton Hall is home gtown and @ butler.

Both Marquette and SH could lose out and providing we go 1 for 2 we would be tied from 8,7,6 in the conference and I think due to the tiebreakers noted would be the 7 seed.

*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

I read differently on the other site, thanks for the clarity, it gives me more hope bc if we do advance past the 1st round and matchup against Nova our chances are slim to none.
