Who gets to the tournament first, St Johns or UConn?

Could be UConn because their conference the AAC sucks like the Maac. The worse the conference, he easier pay to the tourney,.  That’s a loaded question.  In addition, it’s stupid to playnthat game if Yakwe improves a bit there.  Sean Miller and Tom Izzo had little use for Simon and Clark too.  Doesn’t say anything about them...AT ALL!

So Yawke is a punching bag over the past two years by many on this board, and now we are supposed to view it is a negative if he signs with UCONN, a team that needs players right now (much like Mullin did year 1) and will be content taking one year commitments from most guys coming from other high major conferences?

If Yawke signs with UCONN and has a great year the staff can take their share of the blame for not maximizing his talent, especially with what he showed year 1.  Until then it is just noise and baseless speculation.

Some would say that Yakwe broke out elsewhere only after 3 years of being coached by Chris Mullin. Much like some dip shits refused to give Lavin credit for the success that Hardy, Brownlee, Burrell, Evans, Boothe and Horne had a D1 ball.

Exactly. Just like David Cain's success as a senior demonstrated how superior Brain Mahoney was as coach than Lou Carnesecca.

Finish top 5, maybe even 6, in the Big East...most likely you are making the tournament.

Yeah but those top 5-6 are almost always quite good.  Isn’t the same in lesser conferences. No excuse not to start making it back for sure.  But UConn has an easier road by far.

I feel like we’ll finish in the top 3 next year. Not sure UCONN will have a great season next year.

Yea, except that I said in my post that it may be entirely fair to criticize Mullin & Co. if Yawke has a breakout senior year elsewhere.  Just like Lavin & Co. should have gotten credit for how they deployed Hardy and Brownlee, which where the different in that season (Burrell, Horne and DJ especially all had good moments under norm and their success was more natural progression in my view).

My point is that hammering Mullin for Yawke's departure when he got absolutely destroyed for most of the past 2 years is premature at this point, simply because another school that needs to fill scholarships with high major transfers wants him.

Danny will get UCONN turned around eventually but don't see it next year.

BTW with Penny in Memphis, Danny in Storrs and Wichita St, Cincy and Houston pretty good you have the makings of a good conference.

Better hope he doesn't flourish at Uconn, would be another indictment of the staff.

The bugger indictment is that no one stays here long enough to flourish.

Hasn't your guardian told you to stop saying bugger? C'mon little guy.
Shamorie Ponds was an All-American this past season. I wonder what him flourishing looks like?

You’re right Marillac. Our one great player has become a really great player. Just because no one else has improved or even stuck around long enough for us to gage if they have is no reason not to check the player development box.

Maybe you’ve been out in the Florida sun too long? When it says “water-proof”, they mean the bottle.
