July Evaluation Periods

The first set of 5 day live periods begins next Wednesday 7/11.  First big event that first period is the NIKE EYBL Peach jam in North Augusta, SC and a big UAA event in Atlanta. Then there will be events in Orlando and Las Vegas as well over the last two weekends.

Matt getting an early start headed to Argentina today to see Andre Curbelo in the FIBA U17 which allows US coaches to attend.

SJU has been a big presence at all 3 major sneaker events this week Nike-EYBL Peach Jam, Under Armour and Adidas Gauntlet in NY.

They are going all out for Chris Ledlum, Billy Singleton “blue collar” type player.

I agree. Type of local kid that seems to be just scratching the surface. I hope we stay on him hard. 

Smart.  Exact type HS kid we should make our bread and butter; supplement with the kids the blue bloods are chasing if are fortunate enough to get one or the transfer game which Matt excels at.

This seems like the type of kid Villanova routinely gets and improves year by year.

I'm all for securing the most talented kid but to me Achiuwa is looking higher or seems locked in Uconn. I wouldn't dilly dally. Make this kid feel like a top priority because he should be.

He's simply all over the map, while Matt, GSJ and Luca are spanning the globe, both coasts and everywhere in between. Most importantly Chris is hitting the local powerhouse programs, the bread and butter inroads, this is exactly what we've been asking for:

Actually you should have addressed this post to the Mullin apologists and said see he is finally doing what he should have done in his first 3 years.

Spent a good amount of time with the staff last week. All separately and it was definitely different the summers of past. There was a plan of attack and cohesion on targets. From St. Jean to Mullin they were very familiar with players and it was refreshing.

Mullin was excited about newcomers and not media fluff. Genuinely we got some dudes who can play.

Thanks, Dave.  That's a great take on what's going on with the program.  Things just feel so different this summer.

Hopefully, by he end of the month Rice joins the staff and a couple of his Team Rio kids follow him shortly.  A solid '19 recruiting class and what should be far better results on the court this season would prove that Mullin and staff have established a solid footing for the program and that the trajectory is straight up.
