Mikey Dixon was not pushed out. His choice.

The minute Mullin was quoted as saying he had confidence in Greg Williams it was doom For Dixon. Staff isn't looking for instant offense. They need guys that play D. It's what they've been emphasizing hard in practice. Then, Keita came back from injury and Mikey was regulated to 4 minutes and last man in the rotation.

I don’t believe in the term recruited over. If Mullin brought in players that are better than the players he has, and you don’t like it, TFB. Work harder or play less. I think he didn’t improve his defense at all, and when other players did, they earned minutes before him. IDK what Williams can give us yet, but the staff seems to feel more confident in him, and we’ve now seen some high major plays out of him, too.

The frustrating part of this is that the team could have used him this season and beyond. The kid just sat a full season to wait to play here. He was having a good season so it seems pretty fickle to jump ship after two games that didn’t go your way.

What the hell happened here? Who’s got the real story?

You think the staff “gave him a shot” at a clip of 17 minutes a game? So why isnt Roberts, Earlington, or Williams given the same “shot”. He brought offensive value and that’s why he got the playing time, not given a shot. It was recently reduced because they knew he was leaving.

No coach would play a kid if he knew he was leaving. If Mullin knew before the game Dixon was leaving he would have played a walkon the last few mins of the game instead of Dixon. Also the sooner Dixon announced he was leaving the more time it would give him to find another team. Hopefully for him he already knew of a few options and can make it on campus before the second semester starts at his new school.

Mkey might have been rash in this case.  he is now going to have to sit a year and lose a 1/2 year of eligibility.  He could have sucked it up and accepted his role, played for the next year and 1/2 on a successful team and after next year taken the Owens option of post graduate transfer w/o sitting out.

But is that what the staff wanted? We don't know. Would you rather have Steere for next year or Dixon to finish this year? At the time of Steere's commitment that was an obvious answer...Manuel committing recently casts some doubt on that.

The only way Dixon would have made a difference this year is if Ponds was hurt or in extreme foul trouble--the latter is unlikely. Ponds has never fouled out and he's only had four fouls in three games in his career, and two of those games went to OT where he played 44 minutes.

Grand Canyon. Curious choice.
Level is between Quinnipiac and St. John's so probably is a good fit.
