STJ not even mentioned in the 32 teams also being considered out of the top 32.  In other words, if the NIT had twice as many teams, we still wouldn't get an invite according to this  site.

St Johns has a losing record, doesnt the NIT require a winning record?

They changed that rule, but the NIT has become very hard to get into since they reduced it to 48 teams and they guaranteed regular season conference champs a place.
