20. St. John's
Frontcourt: Anthony Mason Jr., Justin Burrell, Sean Evans, Rob Thomas
Analysis: Health is the key. Mason is back after missing most of last season, Burrell will need to rebound from a disappointing sophomore campaign — and Evans has become a solid piece for Norm Roberts.

wow!?!?!

I do think our front court is underrated however this may be overrating it. Also it doesn't help that 5 other Big East schools are in front of us on this list.

If we made the list I think Seton Hall should get consideration. Jeremy Hazell, Stix Mitchell, Herb Pope, Melvyn Oliver, John Garcia

I wonder where Samardo Samuels and Louisville rank?

Goodman has Hazell as a guard

16. Seton Hall
Backcourt: Eugene Harvey, Jeremy Hazell, Keon Lawrence
Analysis: Harvey has plenty of experience running the team, and you won't find too many guys who shoot it better than Hazell from beyond the arc. Lawrence is quick and can score, but he'll need to become a team guy this season and settle into a role.

I'm with you Dave, a little suprised with our ranking, but happy regardless.  Nice to see a little pre-season publicity,  lets hope we live up to it.
On a side note, Duke at 13?   When are the media gonna stop over-hyping these guys. Singler is good, no doubt, the other guys are nothing to write home about.

Dave you think the Hall has a good frontcourt?

I know they have a couple of respected recruits,
But John Garcia is made of glass, and the rest are either brand new or unknowns.

They haven't played enough games for a full evaluation, but Stix Mitchell can play (probably better at SF), Herb Pope is always touted as near-NBA talent, Garcia is nice when he's on the floor.  Oliver is big but an unknown.  But those guys, after playing a season, could turn some heads.

I think Seton Hall has the potential to be one of the better teams in the Big East next season. I think they have a little swagger to their team like they play with a chip on their shoulder. I think they really suffered last season from a lack of depth and adding Keon Lawrence and Herb Pope is pretty big.

Now I've known Keon for a while now and as much as I like what he can do as a player sometimes he is a chemistry killer. He suffers from the Dar Tucker/Deonta Vaughn syndrome sometimes but if he settles into more of a role player on this team they could be very lights out.

In terms of exclusively in their front court it really depends on Herb Pope. Will he play like the highly touted Herb Pope or play more along the lines of Aaron Spears? So they do have question marks but in terms of their best case scenario they could be very very good. Stix is tough and he is very consistent. Garcia has size and I think a little more rest he can play harder when he is in. If Seton Halls backcourt handles the majority of the load like expected it will only open up things more for the front court.

Kennedy played most of his minutes @ the "3" last year,
and will this year as well (will prob. even play more 4 than 2).

Not that he's a 4 at all, but with his rebounding,
I can see DJ being the 4 in a 4 guard lineup

As shown above, I agree we're overrated.Even with
DJ as a forward, not top 20 yet- but respect is nice.

On a whole though I think our front court is underrated. We're better than we give ourselves credit for sometimes. It's our perimeter game which has been hurting us for a while now with not having a PG or a consistent outside scoring threat.

I think Goodman is expecting to see Burrell rebound from a bad a soph year, Mason play a full season, and Evans build on a solid season where he made noticeable progress. It's not so far fetched.

Currently in the works with organizing a bus trip to the game and a pre-game party sponsored by Magic Hat Brewing Company. Once I figure out the group sales ticket pricing and bus expenses I'll post what will be included in the package.
