Question about Jucos?
« on: November 22, 2009, 11:10:05 AM »
Can we recruit a player after one year at a junior college? Is there a rule that a player has to graduate from junior college? Hardy and Brownlee are playing great. It would be even better if we had them for 3 years instead of 2? I am sure their are freshman JC players would like to come to Big East? Can they come though?

Walter Berry came to SJU after 1 season at San Jacinto.

It depends on their academic status.  I think some need the 2 years to get qualified to play.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

Yeah - I think some players are either close to eligible or already eligible when they go to JUCO, and they can leave after 1 year.  Not sure who those players are or how one can tell.

As I understand it, players that come to JUCO not having met D-1 eligibility requirements need to graduate from JUCO before playing D-1 ball.  Players who have already met D-1 eligibility requirements can play for one year and move on.
