lets get loud
« on: December 07, 2009, 02:55:24 PM »
our garden games last year were downright embarrassing. after watching duke fans stay loud and involved for an entire game, i feel bad that the best our players have to look forward to is 30 loud fans in carnesseca and a mixed crowd at msg.  big crowds are the best way to help get recruits and be a sixth man during games.

so everyone lets get there this week and be loud and supportive. drag your friends and families out and lets retake the garden.

Glockenspiel,

I don't think there is anyway you'll be able to describe the 3 or 4k (actual not reported) who are going to show up on Wed. as "loud".

I wish it wasn't so.

I'll be there, but our game will be a ghost town unfortunately.  Maybe if it's a close game at the end we can get some UCONN/Kentucky fans to get loud for us.

st johns has become the new york knicks....people come out every once in a while to watch them get beat by their favorite teams

its no wonder we can't recruit anyone locally...they probably draw a bigger crowd to aau games and have no desire to be a laughingstock in the worlds most famous arena.

there are college basketball fans in this city...i have seen them fill up msg when duke or cuse is in town. if we cant draw a crowd this year and make some noise, it wont be long before norm will be telling us 'bron wants to play for us in a year becaues he skipped college

Unfortunately, this Wednesday isn't the best time to draw a packed house full of Johnnies fans.  Most of the tickets have been bought by UK/UCONN fans and it's not part of the season ticket package so it's an extra expense in these tough economic times.  I'm a student and I go to every game so I will be at this one, but most of my friends decided that fifteen bucks + transportation fees is not worth it to see us play Georgia when they can just watch it on ESPN for free.  I do agree with you though, it is a pretty sad state of affairs but the bottom line is if we win some games and break into the rankings, we will have fans but we have yet to get that signature win to get the city talking St. John's hoops.

I hope our guys take some offense to the fact that we will be playing second fiddle on our own HOME court. We are being used as the opening act for two other teams, one an in conference rival, in our house. That just rubs me the wrong way.

I called SJU ticket office and they said our tickets were all sold and I was referred to ticketmaster. The best seats available are in the 300s in the UGA and Kentucky sections.  I hope that means that we will have a good amount of support.

If anyone has 2 tix for me in the St Johns section, let me know.

simplyred, just get the ticketmaster seats and move seats.  i bet there will be a lot of empty seats for the SJU game anyways.

I forgot this thing was a double header.  My estimate was for us alone non-conf on a Wednesday.

They'll be 10k at this thing though most won't be settling in till after we leave.

They heavily promoted the doubleheader at the P-NIT. Even though we'll be the opening act, it'll be great for the kids to play in front of a packed MSG-even if many are there for UK or the Laptops.
