Getting out to the campus from Manhattan via MTA isn't the easiest thing, but it's do-able and it didn't take quite as long as I expected. Still a little inconvenient though.

If you want to see a Garden game, you can get inside for 10-15 off the street. There are always comp tickets, and some thug selling them on the street for more than he paid for them-which is nothing.

Jamaica, Queens is in the middle of nowhere. Personally, I'm ashamed to take anyone there that isn't from a like neighborhood, or worse.

The metal detectors make people feel that their lives at risk.

St John's happens to be in a very nice upper middle-class neighborhood filled with fairly expensive homes.  I think that because it is listed as "Jamaica, Queens" people think it is a bad neighborhood.  While you don't have to travel far to get to an area that some posters might deem less desirable, the school's actual location is not a bad area.

Of course, you and I (as well as the people each of us might bring to a St. John's game) may be from "different sides of the track", thereby having defferent perspectives on what constitutes a nice neighborhood, I think your description is off target.

Honestly the ticket prices don't bother me too much but then again I prolly don't have as many bills and responsibilities as y'all..lol..but I paid $15 for the double header wed..I was in the 300 but that was also the closest I could get tix

I come form hartford ct and this year I'm tryin to make atleast 5 games..no less..but for me to get to ny I have to take about a hr drive down to new haven..then pay 28 for a roundtrip train ticket..last year for the nd game I got 3 tix in sec 78 for 45$ each..that seems decent to me..I don't drive so I. Usually bring a group of friends and pay for their tickets as long as they go hard for stj..lol..my biggest problem is getting to CA..I kno I have to get on the f train but where would I catch that in manhatten..and how much does a day pass cost..id really liike to get out to queens for both the seton hall and marquette games

If you are taking a train to penn station, you can get on the E train there and that will bring you to Kew Gardens where you then get on the Q46 bus that brings you to campus.  Total round trip cost of that is $4.50.

bottom line is that CA tickets should be free for students. the one or two times they gave out free tickets to students last year (i forget what game it was) there was about twice the number of students there normally was.

I 100% agree with you.  It was the Seton Hall game, and the crowd really had a big impact on the game that night.

yeah im not sure why st. johns is in jamaica. as soon as you walk off campus its fresh meadows, and jamaica estates is between the school and jamaica.

and i dont see what the big deal is about metal detectors.

If they're worried about $$ (I don't see how they make any selling 2,000 tickets anyhow) then free student tickets with a $2 voucher for concessions would be genius. No one stands in line for concessions just to get 1 thing. Thus the $2 voucher would likely lead to a $5-$10 purchase for those who use it. As for the ones who don't use it, nothing is lost.
